James Street Palace Cinema: A Beacon of Cinematic Sophistication Nestled in the heart of our community, the James Street Palace Cinema stands as a veritable jewel among local establishments, distinguishing itself as our preeminent art house cinema. It is a venue that consistently delivers an experience far transcending the mere act of watching a film; it offers a genuine immersion into the world of cinematic artistry, underpinned by an ethos of exceptional local service. From the moment one steps through its doors, the warmth of the staff is palpable. The service here is not merely efficient; it is genuinely attentive and personable, reflecting a deep-seated commitment to fostering a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere. This level of personalized care transforms each visit into a delightful occasion, ensuring patrons feel valued and catered to with an old-world charm often absent in larger, more impersonal venues. Adding to this already refined experience is their exclusive offering of the connoisseur choc top ice cream. Far from the generic concession stand fare, these bespoke treats are a testament to the cinema's dedication to quality and indulgence. Each one is a miniature culinary delight, perfectly complementing the intellectual and emotional nourishment provided by the films themselves. It is this thoughtful attention to detail, from the curated film selections to these exquisite sweet accompaniments, that elevates the James Street Palace Cinema beyond a simple movie theatre to a truly cherished cultural institution. For those seeking a genuine "bit of culture," an evening at James Street Palace Cinema is a real treat. It is a place where cinematic passion meets unparalleled local service, creating an environment that is both intellectually stimulating and profoundly enjoyable. It remains, without question, our beloved haven for art...
Read moreHaven't been to Palace James Street since the before the upgrades. There is now seven Cinemas with the addition of 4 new ones above the entrance stairs on the left.
They have also installed a lift on the left hand side, so if you requiring access it would be two lift journeys into separate lift now to access the upper four cinemas. One lift journey to access the original cinemas on the bar level which is up the first flight of stairs. The new cinemas are lovely. The seating is black leather with tables, cup holders, etc. Most of the cinemas are small 16 seater theatres with plenty of space and the chairs obviously have foot recliner operating by push buttons. I really like this Cinema centre in many ways.
I probably don't give it 5 stars because of the difficulty to access parking, although there is a small amount at the back of the cinema. At busy times it's really difficult to get a park in this area and you really need to go along early. The upside is that there are bars and eateries around so you can catch up before after a movie. Also the other downside is there's not usually enough staff on behind the ticketing and bar service area. .....it's always a long wait to be served. I have found this each time I have visited this Cinema complex over the years and I don't often attend at peak times. This visit I was in one of the new Cinemas upstairs and it was very clean and comfortable. It was not too cold in the air conditioning. All up a very...
Read moreLove palace James St cinemas. Although the prices are slightly higher than other cinemas like event, and they don't offer frozen drinks, this cinema is fantastic. Palace James St cinemas are really modern, always have a great variety of movies available, awesome food, drinks and snacks (amazing choc tops) and lovely staff. This cinema is also a great choice as it's on James St and next to many restaurants, bars, and is opposite Messina. I found the entertainment book usually has a few 2 for 1 deals for this cinema which is quite handy. Parking is a bit hit and miss - there is a small car park below the cinema, I usually need to find a park elsewhere, and with the parking being restricted in this area I usually park in a 2 hour zone and really have to be diligent to make sure I'm out in that time (most movies arent longer than 2 hours so it's usually fine). The seats at palace James St cinemas are extremely comfortable and the cinemas themselves quite intimate and cosy. Most of the cinemas wouldn't seat more than 30 people. The loyalty program looks like good value, I'm yet to sign up as I'm usually running late, but I think they essentially give you free tickets for the same price as the membership fee, then you are entitled to discounted tickets for the rest...
