Had my terrible experience today at Sunnybank Market Square Medical Centre. First, the receptionist arrived around 15 mins late. When she arrived there were a few of us already waited outside the surgery. Secondly she spoke in Chinese and I could not understand and quickly went in the surgery and shut the door. A few minutes later she opened the door and spoke again in Chinese for a few minutes. I had to interrupt and asked her to speak in English. She explained that they've just got power back from a power loss so patients need to come back in about 30mins. I then asked her if she could check which doctor I was booked for. She then changed her mind and let us all in. By this time there was about 7-8 people. I asked her to also checked that her centre has received my scan results as I did not want to wait to see the doctor without the scan results. She assured me that they have. However the doctors had not arrived yet,,,,on the way. After waited a further 1/2hr I got to see the doctor who then informed me no results yet as the receptionist mixed me up with someone else. Unsure why they seemed to be so un-organised and blamed on the power loss. However I live locally and we did have power loss but that was a few days ago and we lost it for a few hrs on the day. I still would not agree on the terrible service of at least 3 things:- a) turning up late b) speak in Chinese c) careless, mixing up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHi,
I was not happy with the appointment as I waited for too long, over an hour. I don't mind to wait 20-30 minutes as I know that there is time levy that the staff put in for waiting time as some patients may delay. I also understand each patient consultation time about 15 minutes and some patients like me could need shorter time than 15 minutes. But, today there were about 5-6 patients before me. I waited for too long. I thought that the counter staff may make a mistake. I asked the GP (Dr. Conrad)when I saw him came out of his room check-in new patient. He said there were two more before me. Then, he said I can leave if I don't want to wait. To avoid conflict I sat back to wait. Then, very shortly later he told the staff he didn't want to see me. Luckily, another GP (Dr. Michael) who I have used to consulting agreed to see me. I think the whole unhappy issue was due to poor arrangement of the appointments. I have been with this medical center for 7-8 years and this was the first time I have such issue. The new counter staff is also a problem. Her inappropriate manner easily create conflict with clients. May be she has little experience with medical center. Today is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām writing this because I believe elderly patients deserve respect and kindness, especially in a healthcare setting where compassion should come first. Iāve been to this clinic twice with my elderly family members, and what really surprised me was how rude the reception staff were. In nearly 20 years in Australia, Iāve never seen such dismissive body language, facial expressions, and tone towards older patients. Iām not talking about rude words, but the impatience and lack of consideration in the way they acted and looked at peopleāit was really unsettling. Maybe they assume most patients here donāt speak English well, so they feel they can get away with treating people like this.
The doctors, on the other hand, are very patient and attentive, genuinely caring for their patients, which makes the contrast with the reception staff even more disappointing. I thought about mentioning the receptionist by name, but Iād rather show some kindness and hope she reflects on her behaviour after reading this. More importantly, I really hope the clinic owner takes this seriously and makes improvements, so every patientāespecially older onesācan feel respected...
