旮旯烧烤 GALA Barbeque — Restaurant in Brisbane City

We had seen this place several times but were always uncertain what it was about. It was always packed and has an absolutely authentic street food feel that you experience in South East Asia. We were thrown by the menu as it wasn't written in English and the photos didn't reveal much. In fact, some items did not have photos which is an issue if you cannot read Chinese. It can be quite intimidating BUT I am so glad we gave it a go. The food is absolutely delicious! Beautifully grilled and packed full of authentic Asian flavours, leaning towards the spicy side. The BBQ / Grill options is an absolute MUST-TRY. You can request for non-spicy if your chilli threshold is low. If you're expecting great service, comfortable seating and stunning decor, I don't recommend this place. But if you're looking for an exceptionally amazing culinary experience and for your taste buds to be tantalised... I highly recommend this! Over 1 hour wait time just for order to not have even been sent to the kitchen yet.

Went here last week, as the place has recently redesigned their shop and it is now more spacious and can fit more customers. Unfortunately, they are not equipped to deal with an increase in customers. After waiting over 20 minutes just to order our food, we then sat patiently for an hour. After asking where our food was, they told us they hadn't even started preparing it yet. This is the longest experience I have ever had just to be told my order isn't even being prepared yet. I went there specifically for the skewers but THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE!!! I don’t know what is going on here but it was Friday night but the place was very quite. The owner’s son, which is a teen, is looking after the counter but apparently he was not trained properly and very confused. The tables are quite dirty as well. The light is odd too. Very very disappointed visiting.
