If you're like me, and visited Roma Street Parklands for numerous reasons but rarely ventured past the edges, you would have missed The Garden Room, as it wasn't part of your reasoning to being at the Parklands. Pleasantly surprised how nice this place looked and felt. I loved how the edges of the cafe are softened by the plants that are the main stars of this place. The outside seating area has lovely hidden away dining areas and it's a place that allows you to escape just for a little while. Wheelchair access isn't a problem and the seats are solid and stable and well kept with decent space between tables for access for prams, wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc. The toilets are clean and tidy and are for cafe clients to use via a key accessed by asking staff. It seems to be dog friendly (outside). Staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. I personally had the Eggs Benedict with Ham, which was perfect and really well presented. Was a nice turn around from ordering to when I received my meal (10-15mins). So if you're after a wonderful experience and tasty food I highly recommend this place for a catch up with friends/family or just that quiet time by yourself to just relax. NB: Don't expect this place to be 100% quiet as Roma Street Train Station is not that far away from the Cafe. Apart from that, it's the perfect place at Roma Street Parklands to have a great Coffee and meal.

Very disappointing experience for my daughter's bridal shower. Booked the high tea for 11 at 2.30 pm. Food and drinks did not start arriving until well after 3. Requested twice for our glass of sparkling to be served. Ribbon sandwiches: We were not served ribbon sandwiches as per the menu. We received dried out bread that was not fresh. There was mould on the crust. They were definitely made many hours beforehand. I explained the issue to the waitress and was only told she would "let the chef know". The second plate brought out was worse. We returned it immediately again to be told "they will let the chef know". All of us left most of the sandwiches. Plus there were NO salmon sandwiches as per the menu. Savouries The only savouries was a cold frittata WITHOUT the tomato jam. NO vol au vents. NO fish cakes as per the menu. The scones just crumbled when we applied the jam and cream. NO fruit and custard tarts. The place was busy and therefore at no time were our used cups, glasses or plates removed during our visit. Clearly more staff required when fully booked with functions. I was embarrassed that we asked our family and friends to pay $55 ($605 in total) for a very substandard high tea. Photo taken on our departure. Our taste buds were NOT treated to an elegant high tea. Will NOT return and based on our experience would NOT recommend.

We got to the cafe excited for the location and food, but unfortunately our expectations were not met. :( I am pescatarian (vegetarian + sea food) and Brisbane in my mind has been ahead of the rest of the country for vegetarian food. We asked if we can have a vegeterian version of the Gardener's Lunch Board. So the pork rillette and sugar baked ham were replaced with a camembert cheese. Also had a greed juice. The food board looked good (see picture) but the bread was just nowhere enough for the food served. So half way through we were left with two half eaten cheese with nothing to have them with :( The cafe needs more staff as the service was slow, tables were left for a long time to be cleaned so the ibis birds where having a fight over the left overs and I am quite surprised they didn't break some of the glasses. Atmosphere was ok but with the birds making a mess, it wasn't that pleasant. It could be the effects of pandemic that has cast a shadow over all hospitality businesses here, but unfortunately you could feel it. I believe this place has got the potential and it could be caused by the pandemic and bad management, but as it is at the moment, it shouldn't be on the top 10 places to go to in Brisbane.

I sat outside inside was occupied ... I had to move things off the table.. which is fine .. but I have just watched 3 lots of people come and stack the dirty dishes from the people before them.... only to end up walking away and not order. One lot went to all the trouble but the table was still dirty. Nobody has still come out to clear them away. They ended up walking off. I asked for a takeaway chips... they came in a bowl. I explained and they were going to bring a bag back.. still waiting. I'll just leave the leftover chips. Not a biggie for me. I knew I wouldn't eat them all. Now somewhere else is trying to clear a table... what does it take to get a table cleared. Sitting back and watching is interesting. Waiters are delivering food so they must know.... I guess I get to waste my chips.. they are too busy to bring me a packet. I'd rather they clean the tables than bring me my bag. Oh well I'm about to leave .. so that's two people's worth of table to clear. Or leave it to a customer who wants a table and just moves it to another table. Im sitting here and this is my observation. Sorry ... The Garden Room .. service is not good. Waiter just delivered a drink to a customer .. just put it down amongst everything else on a dirty table. I would not normally comment like this .. but I'm just sitting here watching. So you get my observations. Still waiting for my bag ... she said she would bring it straight back. Never mind ... all I can say is they must be very busy!! :) I too have pushed my glass and plates to one side ... maybe someone can sit and have a coffee at a half clean table behind the plants out of view of management. Time i left. People are looking for a place to sit. I would like a clean cleared table. I've been here for at least 45 mins and no one hS cleared a dirty cup or cleared a...

My wife and I with our little newborn decided to have lunch in this cafe on Sunday. To be honest, I don’t know if we have been unlucky but everything was not really what we expected. From outside looks really lovely and high standard.

I ordered a cappuccino and it was even less than a flat white in term of froth. The coffee was definitely burnt. Never mind. I asked for a spoon to put sugar and they told me that they don’t have any!!! Ok fair enough, give me an alternative. A small fork, big spoon, plastic one. The waitress just run away. I thought ok, this is weird. Wanted to enjoy the day and our little free time with our newborn, so no problem. Took a straw from the barista and I got the sugar and mixed.

We waited little bit for the lunch but it was a standard waiting. I ordered a burger with chips and my wife ordered poached egg Caesar salad. Well, my burger arrived really cold and the chips as well. The taste was not bad. The salad had just couple of pieces of chicken and the eggs was boiled. She was quite disappointed even for the taste.

In total we spent around $50, location is good but definitely I will think twice to have a meal here again. Maybe we have been just unlucky but I was thinking it could be a better place from the look of it. Unfortunately we have not been satisfied with the service and with the quality...
