Don’t be an idiot like this guy. Feeding wildlife is absolutely not okay especially not animals that can injure humans if they need to. By feeding wildlife you are teaching wild animals to approach humans which is not safe for either party. I witnessed this roo clawing at people for trying to pet it after they fed him and if it had done that to a child it could be seriously dangerous they have sharp claws. Then the kangaroo will get blamed for injuring people when it’s humans fault for feeding them even when signs at entrance deliberately say not to feed the kangaroos. Leave these wild animals alone it’s not a petting zoo they aren’t dogs or goats and it’s not fair to make them uncomfortable for your instagram feed. Just don’t be stupid and grow up have some respect for anything but yourself. If you see people acting like this please say something people should feel embarrassed for harassing innocent animals for a picture. When a wild animal approaches you should stay still if they are curious abt you it’s their choice to come closer if they’d like but going up to them touching them is just mean let them be content. They aren’t dogs trust me they don’t want u to run...
Read moreHeirisson Island is the small island connected to the causeway between Perth City and Victoria Park/Burswood area. You can park in Burswood park by the Crown casino to walk to the island. There are two halves, the Southern end is gated and has the free roaming Kangaroos while the Northern end has the car park (only accessible going away from the city) as well as the toilets and an open park for picnics and BBQs. I was quite lucky when I went. There were people who had already spotted the kangaroos relaxing under the trees so it wasn't difficult to find them. After strolling around the southern end, I went through the underpass on the Perth city side to the northern side. As I was walking around the northern end I spotted dolphins swimming in the river. It was quite a nice walk around the island. Other people were on bikes and others were fishing along the edge of the river. Quite a nice place for an...
Read moreI visited this location on October 20, 2024, around 6 pm during heavy rain with my boyfriend. We walked along the waterline, but as the rain intensified, we became soaked and decided to head to another gate to leave. When we finally reached this gate, we found it locked. We tried calling the emergency line to have someone remove the lock, but the signal on the island was so poor that the operator couldn’t hear us. We had to walk another 25 minutes across the island in the heavy rain to reach the gate where we had entered.
If the place is advertised as open 24 hours, please specify which gates are accessible! It was very frustrating to find gates locked when trying to exit, especially in...
