I feel it necessary to provide feedback on last night’s experience at the Art of Seafood. Firstly, we were told the restaurant was closed Mondays. (Online booking) only to receive a call around 1 hour later suggesting they could fit us in on the balcony only. The warning sign was there and a red flag should have been received, but we pushed on, hoping to enjoy the warm summer evening, and Valentine’s Day!
We were met at the door by the female maître de, but she has no booking for us. I show her the email and she pops us on a table inside the restaurant. (Table 7 to be exact) We decide not to make a scene, but are then told we are having a set menu, however others nearby were afforded a different menu?? We asked the young staffer if we could do similar, but she had no idea. We were told by her later that our booking was a set meal! This was never mentioned on the phone, not even in the received email. Again, we looked at each other and kept quiet! This is when the fun starts. The couple who sit behind us (Table 1, I assume) come in around 7:45, are greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne and given a wine list. We were left to sit for at least 20mins! I asked for the wine list, and some sparkling water for my partner as she doesn’t drink alcohol. Remember this, for later in the show! The complimentary lemon Tuna was superb, and we decided to re-set, and enjoy the evening. Perhaps a little too presumptuous by me! Again we watch the couple behind us enjoy their entrée, and eventually ours arrive. Not bad, but where was my glass of wine? The main meal was served to the couple behind again, but this time we asked, that we have been waiting over 45minutes, and we were here well before that table. Apologies flowed, and so did our meal. The dhufish was cold and the beef not nearly enough to share. We can only assume it was left up on the shelf near a heater whilst everyone else was served? But wait, for the inconvenience, here’s a complimentary glass of red wine for my partner, the one who doesn’t drink, and by the way, where is the sparkling water she ordered? We hurriedly chase down the dessert, and make for the door.
I’m met with a $330 bill, and I was about to smash the nearest person. The maître de apologising profusely offers a 10% discount. I’m enraged. They have charged me for the sparkling water and the 3 glasses of red wine. The set menu we finally are told is $169p/p!!! We agree to write off the items that were not delivered, and settle on something around $250, and I left seething. I should have walked out without paying and fought this matter in court! What an absolute disgrace of a night. My partner was upset, saddened also by the fact that she made me go there.
I promise you this. I will use every contact and effort to ensure all my friends, work colleagues and family, hear about this, and they give your so called Art of Seafood, the biggest berth (pun intended) possible.
Perth restauranteurs have been screaming foul because of Covid and all it has dealt them. This night had nothing to do with Covid. This was a very poorly executed team, not given direction and then charging the earth, to try and rip off customers.
Keep this up, and you will go down with everyone else who do not understand the service industry. I’m hoping sooner rather than later, because you are greedy and your offering insulting.
Thanks for ruining what was supposed to be a beautiful night out in...
Read moreThe service here is terrible! Valentine’s Day. My partner made a booking online and at NO stage was told it would be a set menu. Even in the three phone calls made by the restaurant to him to confirm his booking.. We arrive to a perplexed lady who for some reason says we don’t have a booking, but ‘luckily’ they can still give us a table. Brings us outside to a lone table in the dark with one chair and table not set. No thanks. We will go inside. We sit down and wait for ten minutes to have to ask for a menu and then be told ‘they’re over there’. Sitting patiently waiting to order and once again have to flag someone down. We go to order something off the main menu and are strictly told no it’s a set menu… meanwhile the table next to us chow through their seafood tower (that we intended to order off the main menu). We give in and accept the set menu that we were never told about prior to arriving. We advise the staff only one of us drink, nonetheless, two champagnes arrive to our table, one placed in front of the non drinker. Throughout the dinner it was difficult to get hold of a waiter/waitress in general. Staff flapping about appearing to have no real purpose. The lady who appeared to be ‘in charge’, absolutely useless. Who is managing this place? I feel sorry for the chef, because the food was lovely, but they need someone in charge who knows how to manage a restaurant. I couldn’t come back regardless of how nice the food was, because the service was that bad. Also, if you’re into following rules regarding the current pandemic we are in, don’t come here. Half the staff don’t wear their masks properly/ or at all. A mask hanging off your chin really looks absolutely ridiculous. Huge risk if you ask me,and plain disrespectful to a healthcare worker like myself. It is mandated to be wearing masks in all indoor...

I reserved a table for the 16th Dec 2022, for my mother's 60th, place looked really enticing however we were sat at a freezing table right above the air con, as in shivering cold on a summer's night, We were spoilt at my mother 60th to the back end of the long neck brewery, wherein a view of the river would have made the night special, not a cake/celebration was provided whilst... I mean I have for from franchises, a token, even. We requested the air con be turned down slightly, not off. I saw the staff member say this to the manager in a pink dress which she just looked us as angrily and we sat for 2 hours wishing we had a coat. For the four of us we spent $280, no starters and cheap drinks. Drinks were slow and unorganised and I asked for a pint assuming they were at $15 each but said they don't do pints, literally long neck brewery next door with cheap pints... could barely hear the staff, in my opinion they looked for very young cheap people. Meals were way over priced and super limited we a left hungry a $60 'steak' was less than the size of your palm with no sides. Every portion was cold and tough. Even the lobster. Definitely out for 'style' and money but would not recommend.i could spend $280 and each of us could eat four fold and buy a uber home. I also watched a couple seem unimpressed. up to you but don't be fooled. Alot of work to be done especially in a detached location. Stay in Perth and have a pub meal don't waste your time. Food was barely serviceable, had better and more food form food vans.
I add - no owners review these important criticisms and will not...
