I honestly don't think I can adequately articulate my dining experience at The Point Bar & Grill..

In short, the highlight of our night was possibly parking our cars and the post dinner drink at Embargo.

Our group arrived sporadically and as each person arrived our waitress came to ask "are you ready to order drinks?", we finally suggested that she come back in a bit to give our entire group the chance to look over the menu and decide.. Her response... Eye roll "I've come back and asked like 4 times.."

We were also asked if we would like some water, we were only given the option of still or sparkling and we asked for still.. were delighted (sarcasm) to later find that were were charged $5 per bottle for the privilege... These bottles were generic glass bottles with a 'The Point Bar & Grill' sticker slapped on them..

Next came the ordering of drinks which even after being ordered didn't end up arriving to us.

We were seated on the restaurant side and decided that we would option for a more relaxed affair and asked to relocate to the bar side... No issues there, things had to be looking up!!

Once settled at our new table we proceeded to order various mains and drinks (see above for why we had to order new drinks)..

The food (whilst tasty and hot) arrived in an un-organised mess... Staff didn't know what they were bring out, table numbers were removed before all the meals were brought out and items from the same order were being brought out at random items... Suffice to say, it appears that the lack-luster service had followed us to our new table we weren't having a good time on that front!

Staff behind the bar were also a little underwhelming... Whilst placing my order the staff member I was dealing with stopped mid sentence to start chatting to their work mate about a mixer she had accidentally used in a previous order... Once done I was re-asked 'what my order was?'...

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning to The Point Bar & Grill... The location is to die for but with the calamity of service issues we experienced I think my money is better...

Update 4/5/22 Give them a chance… Whilst it wasn’t all positive I have great hopes for this venue. With the new venue manager, Ariana - with her fantastic attitude and positive outlook - I think this venue has a great future!

Mother’s Day…

We had a bit of a hick up due to a family emergency and our call to advise that there might be a reduction in numbers , was handled with compassion and understanding... a great start!!

We all arrived and we were greeted by Levi who continued to look after us throughout the day!

This man deserves a medal!!!

Throughout our lunch I watched him look after everybody in such an amazing way…

This man should be teaching wait staff!!

Unfortunately his colleagues were nowhere near as efficient, friendly or respectful!! One young lady in particular really needs some extra training...

So Levi made sure that our day was truly enjoyable!!

In addition, the food was delightful and such a wonderful outlook!!

A set menu was on offer (which we weren’t advised about upon booking, so there’s some feedback for management), however it worked really well and we were well taken care of in that regard as well!

And not to diminish the hard work in the kitchen but when the food is served by someone with Levi’s skill the quality of the food is enhanced exponentially!!

With a hospitality background I’ve always said that people will come back for average food and great service but they won’t come back for great food and average service...

This review would not be the same if it were not for Levi - that’s a fact!! The food was great but he was outstanding!!

Thank you Levi…

It has been a really tough week for our family and you made sure that we had an amazing day that was enjoyed by each and everyone of us and that’s as a direct result of your care and...

Big night fell a bit flat 😞

Great location and venue, and the organisation, food and catering staff were excellent. Manager (Ann?) was friendly and very accommodating, nothing seemed too much trouble.

Aside from the dj leaving at 10pm (I think), the atmosphere was good to get the evening started but music never went anywhere beyond great background music, so didn’t get some of the group’s keen dancers onto the dance floor. We were unfortunately located quite far from the dance floor, which may have played a part, would’ve preferred to be closer to the music and the front views, but perhaps it would feel better with a band.

Bar service was very slow, most guests made comments to me about not being able to get drinks, and one of the male bartenders was abrupt, verging on rude, particularly when he unexpectedly called last drinks just before 10:30pm, despite 20-30 of the group having settled in and keen to carry on ordering.

Understand the need to knock off staff when the night is dying down, but since I’d booked a venue that stayed open until “late” for my birthday, it would have been better to come let me know that’s what they were thinking so we could agree on a plan - I offered to put more money on the bar tab to ensure bar staff costs were covered, but the offer was not taken up, bar staff appeared to have better places to be. They allowed 3-4 more drinks and then male bartender rudely refused multiple requests.

Despite no drinks to keep us going and the big security guard hovering nearby checking his watch and generally making us feel unwelcome, we hadn’t caught up together for a while so around 15 of us were still deep in conversation and having a good laugh, until were asked to leave about 11:15pm, when some of the group moved on elsewhere to carry on...

We tried out this chic spot for a group dinner on a weekend. Overall, we had a wonderful evening, and I really appreciate the effort that Nadine put into making the experience enjoyable for both the adults and the children. The personalised name cards with our food orders were such a thoughtful touch and made everything run smoothly. The kids’ activities were also a fantastic addition—our little ones were happily engaged with the coloring, which allowed the adults to relax and enjoy the night. The meals were delicious, especially the steak, which was a highlight for many of us. The environment was warm and welcoming—definitely family-friendly and comfortable for a group like ours. I did want to share two small pieces of feedback that could help enhance the experience even more. First, the live band, while talented, was quite loud during their set, which made it difficult to have conversations at the table, which was our primary purpose for the reunion dinner. We would remember to request a more noise sheltered area such as the Terrace area where others were enjoying in smaller groups. Secondly, the wait time between the entrée and the main course was longer than expected. We understand the service manager mentioned that service was held off as we were still chatting when we went up to follow up, but we would have preferred the meal to be served a bit more promptly, especially with children in the group. That would have been the only main constructive feedback. That said, we really appreciated the friendly service, the thoughtful setup, and the quality of the food overall. I’d be happy to return to try the steak again in a smaller family setting.

A disappointment experience. I had high expectations for this restaurant, given its prime location, but the experience turned out to be a complete letdown. The food was far from fresh—honestly, it looked like low-quality street food or even worse. For a meal priced at $88, I expected at least decent quality, but it seemed like they had reheated something that had been sitting around for a long time. When I politely raised my concerns, the chef became aggressive, and even the manager did not do much. No apology, no attempt to make things right— . It was shocking to see such behavior in the hospitality industry. The portion, supposedly meant for two, was an absolute joke—both in size and presentation. If it weren’t for the location, I doubt anyone would willingly spend money here. I don’t know where they get their confidence from, but when you treat customers this way, you shouldn’t expect repeat business. As someone who has worked as a chef for many years, this was one of the most disrespectful dining experiences I’ve ever had. I truly feel sorry for the bar owner, who seems completely unaware of what’s happening in his establishment. A restaurant should respect its customers, not treat them with indifference and hostility. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Tucked away along Riverside Drive, excellent spot by the river. Its relaxing ambiance offering superb view of the river offers a great space for special occasions or just a nice place to catch up with friends. The service was prompt. The food - looked like someone poured in the effort to create something special to give the customers a great experience through their sight as well as their taste buds (especially the scallops). The platter to share - generous serve. It can even be enough for three people. The meat all fell off the bone. Tasty, great texture and the truffled aioli scored extra points from me!!! The karage chicken served with kimchi adds a nice touch. The sourness of the kimchi helped with washing down the feeling of having too much meat. By far the best meat platter I've tasted.
