My encounter with this establishment has been nothing short of a nightmare, marred by multiple issues that have left me extremely dissatisfied and frustrated.

To begin with, the problems started upon check-in when I discovered that the rooms I had booked were not the ones provided. Despite specifically reserving an apartment with two rooms, I was given an apartment with only one room. This blatant disregard for my reservation not only caused inconvenience but also displayed a lack of professionalism and attention to detail on the part of Bay View Villas.

Unfortunately, the issues did not end there. The mishandling of my personal belongings has further compounded my disappointment. I had accidently left my Apple Airpods in the hotel after my stay, when I provided a pre-paid envelope to return my item I was sent a $20 set of earbuds that did not belong to me. This level of carelessness and negligence is utterly unacceptable. It not only demonstrates a lack of respect for personal belongings but also raises concerns about the security and integrity of guests' possessions.

The subsequent interactions with the hotel management regarding these issues have been equally disheartening. Their response has been evasive, unhelpful, and lacking in accountability. Despite expressing my dissatisfaction and seeking a resolution, they have failed to take responsibility for their mistakes and have provided minimal assistance in rectifying the situation. Moreover, the lack of communication and the prolonged delay in resolving the issues have added to my frustration. Despite their promises to rectify the situation and return my Apple Airpods, I have yet to receive any concrete actions or a clear timeline for the resolution. This level of unprofessionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction is deeply concerning.

In light of these experiences, I cannot recommend Bay View Villas to fellow travelers. The incorrect rooms, coupled with the mishandling of personal belongings, reflect a lack of attention to detail, poor management, and a disregard for guest satisfaction. It is my sincere hope that Bay View Villas acknowledges the severity of these issues and takes immediate steps to rectify them. This should include providing the correct rooms as booked, providing a refund, and ensuring the prompt return of my Apple Airpods. Additionally, it is crucial that they implement stringent measures and staff training to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

As a discerning traveler, I value professionalism, integrity, and exceptional service. Regrettably, Bay View Villas has failed to meet these basic expectations. My husband and I have stayed here three times now, choosing this as our Hobart base.

The previous two times we've had no issues with our experiences. In fact, we've been over the moon. Always top floor one bedroom with harbour views, service has been exemplary.

I had to postpone in 2016 due to an injury and the lady I spoke to was only able to offer me one out of the three dates with no refund. I wasn't happy. However, when we arrived, another lady at the desk gave us the refund for the two nights we didn't use - phew!

This year?

Absolutely no problems with service. Efficient, friendly and professional.

This time we were on the second floor one bedroom with harbour views. We could hear the people above us thumping around like elephants. We also didn't open the curtains too much as you can see into the two bedrooms townhouses across the way (and probably vice versa).

The kitchen, while completely and perfectly usable, lacked some basic things like a pair of scissors. I wouldn't partake in their 'breakfast' offerings, it's just stuff you get yourself in a grocery store for 1/4 of the price - just go to the local corner just down the road (West Hobart Express). There is also amazing pizza and pasta across the road from that is a must (Paesano Pizza & Pasta).

We've never had a problem with the free WiFi on offer previously but this year, it is just incredibly bad. We couldn't even use it. It wouldn't load web pages!

The shower is also a bath, and an incredible slip hazard. The water pressure is absolutely woeful.

There are air conditioning units in the lounge and the bedroom, but you can only use one at a time.

You also only get one key, which is used to power the room. Not very helpful if you need to separate for any reason.

Introvert observations: The only interaction required is if you check in within operational hours, you could check in after hours and they lock your key in a lockbox. You can also drop your key off in the box at the front.

There are no signs for your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Both days we had housekeeping knocking on our door, one day we were in the middle of getting ready (albeit it was about midday).

Final thoughts: While we have been a few times now, and have loved this place for its location and facilities, I believe it has degraded in quality over the past twelve months. I will probably look elsewhere...

Parking is a breeze with plenty of free spaces available at the back of the property. This convenience is a significant plus, especially for those traveling with multiple vehicles. One of the highlights of our stay was the occasional visit from kangaroos in the evenings, adding a unique and charming touch to our experience.

The property also features a range of recreational amenities. The swimming pool and table tennis table provided enjoyable activities for all ages, while the BBQ area was perfect for group meals and gatherings. The spacious BBQ area ensured we had plenty of room to cook and socialize comfortably.

Overall, Bay View Villas offers a well-rounded and enjoyable experience. Its prime location, ample amenities, and family-friendly atmosphere make it a great choice for groups visiting Hobart. We left with fond memories and a strong desire to return...
