The express check-in process was seamless. We received an email with our cabin and PIN details the day before, making our arrival hassle-free.
Upon entering the cabin, there was a noticeable scent. I’d describe it as a cleaning agent smell, though my husband thought it was more like a "cheap spa" fragrance. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was distinct and hard to define.
The cabin itself was spacious and clean. We stayed in the Collingwood type, which had two bedrooms: one with a queen bed and the other with a three-tier bunk bed, two of which were made up, accommodating a total of four people.
Towels were neatly placed on each bed. The WiFi didn’t require a password, but it was quite slow, so I ended up relying on my mobile data.
The kitchen was impressively stocked, especially for someone who doesn't cook. It had everything you’d need if you wanted to prepare meals during your stay. The fridge was a standard size and completely empty, except for a packet of milk, which wasn’t an issue for me.
I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the kettle—probably the cleanest one I’ve ever seen in any accommodation! Most kettles I’ve come across have rusty coils, but this one looked brand new.
The bed was quite springy, but the comforter kept us warm without needing to turn on the heater. The pillows, however, didn’t work for me—either too low with one or too high when stacked.
We checked out before 9 a.m., following the instructions to drop the keys at reception. I placed them in the "Key Box Push," the only spot that seemed appropriate, though it wasn’t locked. I’ve emailed the property to confirm, just to be sure they collect the keys promptly.
The location was decent. There’s only a café on-site, which operates out of a pushcart van, so options are limited if you're looking to eat nearby. However, it's just a quick 2-minute drive to the nearest shops, which was...
Read moreGreat location but not good for vans,
Access to sites very difficult, narrow road - we saw our friends' van opposite narrowly miss being wiped out by an incoming neighbour trying to manoeuvre.
Narrow road to get to site, very sharp corners the palm trees on one corner are scarred by vans trying to squeeze around.
Our site was uneven, sloping down from the one behind, with a sloping concrete kerb that we saw others having to negotiate with great care.
Amazingly there was no sullage pipe for each vans' grey water disposal. Being downslope, when the people behind used their in-van washing machine, their washing water made our site squelch. We ended up with three vans' grey water being dumped in the power/ water spot directly behind our van, as it had a mower-protecting wooden plank of timber around it, and it looked as though it was the only place to put it. It was full of grey water.
Our shire does not allow any dwelling to dump untreated grey water on the ground, for to health reasons. Our van has a grey water tank, which we used. It was surprising to find this park is council owned.
Friends had their electric bike stolen from their locked bike rack. There is nothing to stop anyone wandering through at anytime. The Haven do make it clear that they are not responsible for security, and were as helpful as they could be, but the park is on a very vulnerable position. Don't leave your valuables outside.
The toilets themselves were clean, but whoever cleans them forgets to house the corners, where there's an impressive build up of dirt. After our first day they smelt, maybe it was bleach based cleaner or worse.
The staff were pleasant. The location very convenient to bike path and ocean. Just remember to make sure you're on the western,...
Read moreI tried booking the Family Suite cabin for our family holiday and the person I spoke with was horribly rude. I spoke with Alira twice on the phone prior to booking online and paying in full. She told me that the cabins were pet friendly and we discussed how we would be bringing our two kittens. I told her we would be booking Cabin 41. We went ahead and placed the booking. Kids excited, we’re excited, summer holiday booked in! Only to have her call me and tell me that the cabin we booked is NOT pet friendly. Umm what!? I specifically told her we are going to book Cabin 41, why did she not mention that it isn’t pet friendly whilst on the phone prior to booking?!
She said she will have to move our booking to a different cabin, which wasn’t an option as we are 7 people and the cabin we booked was the only one that accommodates all of us. We had to cancel.
She then refused to refund the booking fee and very rudely told me that it is my fault and therefore not her problem. It honestly felt like a trap, in order to just get us to book! She deliberately played with her words and said “I said we have pet friendly cabins, not that we are pet friendly”.
Non-apologetic, didn’t even pretend to be nice or to care! That’s not how you run a business. Avoid this place if you can! They don’t know how to speak to people and they clearly don’t care about their reputation. She had a cold hearted tone of voice right from the get-go, I should have known. Such a shame because we stayed here 13 years ago and it was lovely back then. Won’t be visiting again any time soon.
Also, Management, the conversation was recorded, so if you would like to listen please...
