My Wife and I booked a table for two online very easily and we attended Rebulica for the very first time on Saturday 22/9/24 at 6.30pm.

On our arrival, as virgins to Republica, we were both very impressed with the warm and super friendly welcome from the very welcoming staff and within seconds, our booking was confirmed and we were led to our awaiting table. The waitress introduced herself and made us feel at home as we were being seated.

The restaurant layout, decor, climate control settings were very comfortable, which ensured that our visit was very comfortable. The place has a great welcoming vibe to it too.

The menu was very clear and easy to navigate and my wife, as a celiac ordered Risotto and I ordered Fish n' Chips. The fish n' Chips were exceptional, the risotto was delicious and waiting time for our meals to arrive at the table were exceptional too.

After finished her risotto, my wife went for another delicious helping of deserts. She ordered Glazed Chocolate Mousse which is gluten free. Moments later the Glazed Chocolate Mousse arrived at the table looking superb and screaming out, "eat me".

Prior to eating her delicious looking desert, my wife had one enquiry with the waitress, regarding her desert being all gluten free and without any gluten contamination.

The waitress was very knowledgeable with what was being served, however she was more than willing to double check with the kitchen to ensure it was all gluten free for my wife to confidently eat her desert without any health issues after leaving Republica over at the Belinda Carlisle concert at the Palais Theatre.

Her assistance was exceptional and in the most welcoming manner possible and this goes to all the staff members that we interacted with during our visit to Republica. Their attention and willingness to please us as diners was impeccable, they are a credit to the establishment, "Republica".

If I could give Republica and it's staff a rating of 1000/10, I would, however 10/10 for sure and I can't wait to return for another great meal and great service at Republica.

Thank you to all the team on Saturday night (21/9/24) for the great night and meal, keep up the fantastic work that you do, it is noticed and...

What an absolutely underwhelming experience with very, very poor service (complete with implicit racism). Not even the gorgeous views of the beach can save it.

First of all, I’d liked to appreciate that the restaurant was willing to re-book our spot (our original reservation was at 12pm) to 12.30pm. This action and the food contributed to the 2 stars as opposed to lower.

I don’t normally mention my appearance when I leave reviews, but bear with me. Now, I have Asian apperance and I came here with a party of 8 (plus 2 babies) - also of Asian appearances, and we were seated indoors. When we were ready to order, the bearded bloke with flannel shirt brushed us off and said, “Daniel has ordered for you guys, yeah?”. We asked him, “Who’s Daniel?”, but he ignored us and walked away! Keep in mind that no one in our party is called Daniel.

Guess what happened next? A party of 8 men in suits (of Asian appearances) sat behind us with a guy named Daniel ordering meals for them! Wow, I would never think that having lunch here would subject me to implicit racism. Thank you very much!

We decided to call another server and proceeded to order anyway. Now this younger guy got our orders right. However, when it came to serving, he was just going on, “Who ordered what” basis to us. Fine, not what I had expected of such ‘edgy’ restaurant, but sure why not. When he reached out across the table to hand me my wine, however, the lack of professionalism was dauntingly obvious. I understand that he’s probably new and it’s hard to find good hospitality staff under the current circumstances. However, this lack of professionalism should’ve been tackled earlier and promptly considering that previous reviewers have noted this as an issue.

All of us ordered various meals and we were just simply underwhelmed by the average food quality. It’s edible and good (hence the 2 star review), but not at all impressive.

Would I come back? Hm, maybe if a Daniel really did order for us, we’d probably enjoy the food and service more. But we don’t have any Daniels among us,...

Really disappointing experience with shocking service and our order being lost in limbo after being accused of having left the table when it would have been delivered. We ordered two fish and chips with the QR code and then ordered food for our friends. Their food arrived after 10 minutes but ours never came. After 25 minutes, we asked a waitress if there was a problem with our order and she came back apologising and saying that the order had been cancelled by mistake. She re-ordered the food and refunded the money, which was much appreciated (the review is not about her). However, after another 30 minutes, I asked another waiter what had happened with our food. He accused us of having left the table when he allegedly brought it over!! We assured him we had not gone anywhere. He came back 10 minutes later with two portions of chips and told us that was what we ordered! We showed him the online receipt and he left visibly annoyed at us (??. After another 15 minutes, he eventually came with the two initial fish and chips, threw the plates on the table. I said thank you but left without a word of reply or any apology and no cutlery. I called him as he walked away and asked him for the cutlery and he kept walking away. He turned around by the door and pointed at a trolley with a grin on his face clearly telling me to get up and get it myself. I was shocked at the level of rudeness and lack of respect and basic customer service and asked him to stop being rude and bring the cutlery to us. He arrogantly replied “no” and walked away. I raised a complaint to management. they were clearly under the pump and I told them to address the issue with the waiter. I left to finally have my meal but they never...

Please read all reviews to get an idea of the bigger picture. Should you try this Republica? Sure, yes! But, what should you expect? First, the amazing scenery of St Kilda beach and this unique location where the restaurant offers. An alternative however is to take a walk towards the pier a few steps from the restaurant. Then, you should be prepared for a lovely restaurant that is almost always overcrowded, is expensive, has satisfactory but overpriced food compared with the quality & quantity. If quality is improved I’ll revise my 3 stars and go for 4. However, being almost always overcrowded also means the food is fresh. Staff are generally nice but not all of them are the most helpful or necessarily so excited about their job. It’s a clean restaurant I should say and passes my strict hygiene and cleanliness criteria. The furniture are chosen wisely and the ambience is comfortable. As I said at first, it’s a restaurant that you definitely should try for yourself at least once and then decide whether it’s your type of stomping ground or no. As for me, I love it! Way to go Republica! PS I noticed there are many photos of the restaurant so I uploaded two panorama photos of the pier next to it.

🦐 Republica St Kilda – Great Seafood, Relaxed Vibes & Stunning Views 🌊✨ Located right by St Kilda Beach, Republica is a lively and stylish restaurant that’s perfect for enjoying fresh seafood while soaking up Melbourne’s iconic coastal atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of tasty dishes, with highlights like grilled prawns, oysters, calamari, and seasonal seafood platters — all served with fresh, vibrant flavors that pair beautifully with the beachside setting. 🦪🍤🐟 The vibes are relaxed yet energetic, with a modern interior and a spacious outdoor seating area where you can enjoy the beautiful ocean views and salty sea breeze. It’s a fantastic spot to unwind with friends, share a meal, or enjoy a few drinks while watching the sunset over St Kilda. Do keep in mind that Republica can get quite busy, especially on weekends and sunny days, so it’s a good idea to book ahead if you want a table with the best view.
