Beautiful in its architectural style but sadly relegated to one star due to it NOT being a true ocean water pool along the lines of Sydney's sublime and Great sea-pools. What a shame! And such an expensive place to enter as well, it seems to be only for the trendy professional set? No doubt it was Stirling Town Councils well known preference for cronyism by awarding public building contracts to friends with inferior designs dumbed-down to suit profit motive by the insider-cronies who run so many of our Local Councils. Which is what this over-inflated faux oceanpool actually is ie., just an inferior, chlorinated, unhealthy semblance to the real thing . That is; a true open ocean sea-pool where the water is constantly recharged by being open to the ocean so the water washes in and out. Making the swimmer not only safe but also making them feel as though they are in nature, and is what the public really wanted. -Not just another 'pay-to-enter', snot-filled, chlorinated pool by the seaside. So basically another hatchet job by the cronies that control Stirling Town Council hmmm one suspects???? Hopefully Cottesloe's new seapool won't be undermined by the greed-crew who always dumb things down for the...
Read moreAmazing outdoor pool to visit at Scarborough Beach! There’s actually two separate pools—a larger pool for lap swimming that is shaped like an “L” and has BOTH 25m and 50m lanes (what a concept!), and a warmer, shallow, wading pool that is great for relaxing after you exercise. Some of the pics on google reviews are outdated, bc the shallow pool is now mostly covered by a beautiful shade structure.
We came here to swim when we visited Scarborough Beach bc the ocean water was a lil too cold (and windy), plus we were afraid of the sharks!
The lap pool is a saltwater pool and heated (on the upper side of your usual lap swimming pool), spotlessly clean, and well organized with different lanes for different speeds. The staff and other swimmers all seemed friendly and respectful. There are lockers available for rent, but most people just kept their bags outside on the pool deck.
Great place to go swimming! Def worth the visit if...
Read moreHandy for those who use ACROD parking as there are several bays right near the lift which takes you to the door of the Scarborough Pool. And there is no sloping ground to tackle either.
The graduated walkway into the main pool is a boon for people with heart conditions and those with arthritic joints or having recently had joint replacements surgery.
Having a Walking Lane in which young children are not allowed is once again great for those who are exercising with arthritic joints /new joint replacements/ heart conditions or those who bruise easily. Although it may take a little explaining to young families at first, but believe me as someone with all the above, it is reassuring to know I wont be wacked under the water by a wayward leg from a lil tacker. I do bruise very easily. The lifeguards do a good job of ensuring the lanes are used...
