Worth visiting at least a few times, especially with its prime location next to the beach.
Well made but it is just too wacky and big. Lacks most of the small basic stuff that is good to develop on or enjoy if you don't want to go gnarly. No flat bars or small mini ramps with mellow transitions.
The ledges next to the big pool are not good to use if anyone is using the pool or you don't like to keep going into the pool to fetch it. Some of the other ledges on the other side are next to rough ground so aren't so usable.
The pool is probably awesome for the 1% of skaters that will actually use it. I'd love to see a pro contest on it.
In short this park is a wasted opportunity designed more to look impressive than be functional for most skaters. It would have been better and more largely accessible if it was designed around progression and fun with a strong variety of smaller obstacles leading into an even progression of medium to larger ones.
The best examples of this include Mills Park, Freemantle and the older...
Read moreThe skate park at Scarborough is a good skate park for bowl skaters with one of the biggest bowls I’ve ever seen, and I recommend going to the bowl if your a bowl or vert skater, there is another small skate park right next to the bowl but isn’t the best skate park you’ll ever see, the park is surrounded by a little ramp with coping and has in the middle of the park and kicker with gap and stairs and rails but the park is always surrounded by random people and little kids who look at the park like a play ground and it gets very frustrating and there are usually little kids on there 3 wheeled scooters and they usually get in your way or snake you, but if you ever get too annoyed at the little park just come over to the awesome and massive bowl where kids aren’t usually mucking around, and is a cool place to spend the day, skate and surf, and sometimes Scarborough has musicians playing in the square so you chill out...
Read moreBowl is going to put Perth on the map for Vans Park Series and big bowl comps. Besides that the street section is an absolute waste of money. So poorly designed and has zero flow. Waste of space in the centre and lacks any real skate park obstacles for beginners or people who don’t like going big. They’ve definitely designed this to be a more pedestrian friendly space and by doing so have completely wasted 80% of the parks potential. The one rail can only be hit from one side as the run up is obstructed by benches and a big concrete seating block. The street section closest to the road has exposed agg concrete throughout making it a gnarly spot if you come off. Such a shame it turned out this way, would’ve been the best park in Perth based on its view and...
