I went to Gunnamatta Bay Cronulla and did some swimming 🏊♂️ at Baths. The water was crystal clear and I enjoyed myself. There was a lot of family enjoying themselves. Gunnamatta Bay is only a few minutes away from Cronulla railway station and the Cronulla ferry ⛴️ well worth checking out. I first went to cronulla Beach ⛱️ and ocean pools. But due to the recent storms there was pollution and hazards conditions. I am glad I decided to check out the conditions at gunnamatta Bay baths before leaving cronulla. I really enjoyed having a swim 🏊♂️ here. The atmosphere is generally peaceful during weekdays but can become quite busy on hot weekends and public holidays. It's often described as a great place for a relaxing day out, with lovely views that are perfect for photos, particularly at sunset. 🏊 The Swimming Area Netted Tidal Baths: The main attraction is the large, netted tidal bath area adjacent to a narrow, sandy beach. The netting helps provide a sense of safety and keeps the water calm. Family-Friendly: The lack of waves makes it excellent for young children and toddlers to paddle and play safely. Jumping Wharf/Boardwalk: A major drawcard for kids (and adults!) is the elevated wooden boardwalk/wharf which is a popular spot for jumping into the deep water at high tide. Lap Swimming: The baths also accommodate serious swimmers, with a 50-metre section popular for laps and used by local swimming clubs. 🌳 Facilities and Amenities The area is well-equipped for a full day out: Gunnamatta Park: The baths are situated right next to a large, leafy park with plenty of grass and shaded areas. Playground: A big children's playground makes the location a top choice for families. Picnic/BBQ: Public BBQs (gas/electric permitted) and sheltered picnic sheds are available for visitors. Convenience: There are public toilets, changing facilities, and showers (cold water outside, some warm showers possibly in the nearby club area). Cafes: A good cafe is located opposite the park, and the main Cronulla shopping and dining area is a short walk away. 🚌 Accessibility The location is highly accessible: It is only a short, easy walk (about 10 minutes) from Cronulla Train Station. On-street parking is available along Nicholson Parade, but it fills up very quickly on busy days. ✅ Highlights Safe, calm water for all ages. Fun jumping wharf. Excellent park, playground, and picnic facilities right next door. Easy access via public transport. ⚠️ Things to Note Crowds: Can be very crowded on hot days and weekends. Patrols: The baths and beach are not patrolled by lifeguards. Parking: Street parking can be competitive. Low Tide: The water is calmer and shallower at low tide, which is good for toddlers, but high tide is...
