I wouldn’t return; the atmosphere was fine, the server was exceptional and full of pep, but I didn’t come to eat her - the food just didn’t meet my expectations for its price point. Massaman curry - $39 - not what I expected, I anticipated strong taste of spices (star anise, cardamom, cinnamon etc in coconut milk), with peanuts, onions, potatoes. The questionably thickened curry instead had a puzzling taste, reminded me of tomato, and had half a sweet potato in it. The lamb meat fell off the bone which was great, but the flavour or consistency of the curry didn’t strike me as authentic Thai. ^Noting attached photo, a lot of oil (why?), dry star anise and bay leaf placed on top for presentation - I’d rather see the spices floating in coconut milk, richly imbued with their flavours, than as garnish. Fried chicken baos - $20 - only two, vs photos I saw on Google prior which had three. Fried chicken was tasty, but chilli mayo wasn’t special. Felt overpriced. Coconut rice - $4.50 I think - OK, couldn’t distinctly taste coconut but I’m sure it was in there - just not flavourful. Roti - $5 I think - two tiny quarters! Again felt overpriced.

We had booked almost 2 weeks in advance for a special occasion and when we arrived we were seated at a small table on quite a steep slope by the entrance with little to no protection from the wind and we were cold all night. When we asked to move to a space inside that just freed up, we were quickly denied as they were “fully booked” however the table remained free for the duration of our sitting. We also saw one couple of walk-ins seated inside. Additionally we had peoples rear ends in our faces and quite close to our food every 5 minutes, whilst they waited to be seated. Service was extremely slow and our waitress serving us throughout the night seemingly forgot we existed which further left our dining experience to be extremely cold and miserable. At least the food was good once we finally got it 🤷🏽‍♂️ 9/10 for food 1/10 for service

OMG Alphabet St. has reignited my belief in exceptional service and delectable cuisine. From the instant we stepped inside until our departure, the service scored a perfect 10, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was buzzing. Our group of four moms came for cocktails and delicious food, and we left thoroughly satisfied! I can't praise this restaurant enough—it was worth braving the Friday weather, and I'd gladly repeat the experience!

I attended this restaurant with my wife and daughter for the first time tonight and was extremely disappointed. The service was extremely poor. We were initially put on a table that had a significant incline. When we asked to move they said they were completely booked yet they had two similar tables nearby that were empty. Half way through our meal they eventually moved us ( to one of the nearby empty tables). In addition: we ordered two glasses of Chardonnay, but never received them - when I brought it to the waitresses attention at the end of the night, she said ‘ O yeah, I will make sure I take it off the bill’ we asked for chopsticks and never received them; we weren’t aware that there were any specials as we were not offered any, so we ordered off the menu. We then saw other customers that were all offerred the specials....do when I brought this to the waitress’s attention, she said they were under staffed, and that they shouldn’t accept customers who walk in off the street... I said how does that stop you from offering the restaurant specials ...I got not answer the bill was brought out to us when we didn’t even ask for it ( we weren’t even offerred deserts or coffee).... when I highlighted to the staff member that as first time diners to the restaurant we were very disappointed, the staff member just took the credit card from my hand tapped the machine and said ‘ I will make sure to let them know’

Extremely dissatisfied and will...

I was completely blown away by Alphabet St. This isn't your conventional Thai place.

It's stylish, modern, with a condensed menu design for sharing. A fantastic place to come with foodie friends who want to taste a bit of the whole menu.

It has a wonderful cocktail menu with some creative concoctions.

To eat, we ordered:

Prawn Lon 🦐 I cannot express this enough. This dish was one of the most wonderful things I've ever eaten. Absolutely recommend ordering. It's a slightly sweet, coconutty, and almost like a chunky prawn dip. It sounds strange, but it was paired with these perfect prawn chips for dipping. Such an incredible Thai dish.

Barramundi Dumplings 🥟 Big wow for this dish. Never had fish in a dumpling before. These were paired with a tangy sauce and we're steamed to perfection. Absolutely fantastic balance of flavours.

Fried Chicken Bao Buns 🍗 A classic that everyone can enjoy. Surprisingly filling.

Stir Fried Greens 🥦 Another simple classic with a perfect sauce. I only wish it was popped on our table sooner so I could've enjoyed it alongside the other dishes.

Roti 🍞 Another fantastic basic delivered to the table a bit too late. Would've loved to have used this to soak up the sauce of the other dishes.

All of the above was ordered for two people plus 2 cocktails each. We were super full afterwards.

Overall, I'll definitely be making the trip back to eat here again....

I have only ever left a review once before and it was very positive (local mechanic) but I had to leave a review for this restaurant as I can say without any hesitation it is easily the worst food I have had at what you would consider a higher level restaurant especially considering the insane pricing, the restaurant is very cramped the staff that served us were polite and cheeky which my partner and I enjoyed but the food fell so short, the papya salad was okay but definitely lacked flavour and missed the zingyness you would expect, the massaman was cooked well and tender very sweet sauce but they obviously took a different approach to this dish and is still nice,however....I can't express how bad the pork belly was my partner and I both discussed on how it could go so wrong. The pork was sooo incredibly dry and lacked seasoning and the sauce that accompanied it was very odd and didn't belong, overall the food was very over priced and my partner and I left very confused and disappointed, I personally would never recommend or go back to this establishment however the meringue cocktail my partner had was fantastic! I hope this restaurant can improve...
