I did enjoy my time up on Mt Tamborine, and I recommend it for those who like artsy little boutiques, a good drink or a nice little stop at a café. The parking along the road is dreadful, but, there is a public carpark just one street away. If your legs aren't what they used to be, it is a bit steep, but it's impossible to find a free spot along the Walk itself. But, that's my only critique. Sure, there are stores I didn't like or that I felt were too expensive, or full of stuff I didn't like. But, it's not the store's fault that I don't like hand-knitted tea cosies or home-made soap. If you do, you would adore those shops, but you might hate the Castle Glen bottle shop, which sold dozens and dozens of flavours of liqueurs, from chilli and chocolate to coffee and cranberry, even though I loved it; or the you might not enjoy the fudge shop or the German clock store, even though I thought their products were delicious, the former and delicate, the latter.
There is a lot on offer here, and ducking into each little shop to check it out was a fun experience, even when I personally saw no worth in their wares, because the experience itself of checking out these places was so much fun. And, what shocked me the most, I went with my grandmother in a wheelchair, and it had pretty smooth paths all the way up and down. There was only ONE place in the whole street she couldn't visit due to the wheelchair. But, it was a fudge shop, and there was a fudge store on the other side of the road that WAS wheelchair accessible, so it was no loss (except to that shop, but they had poor disability access, so I don't care).
If you have the time, and the will to go for a drive up this very green mountain, then you owe it to yourself to stop at this little spot. It was...
Read more14/3/23. Google maps has the walk from Fortitude Brewery at one end of Long St to the Distillery at the other end 1 min. By the time you look through the many stores it could take hours. It’s so busy that finding an angle park is almost impossible unless you are extremely lucky. I’d suggest parking at Fortitude Brewery, their car park is quite large. So many stores in quaint little buildings all the way from one end to the other. Cafes, art stores, jewellery, clothing and so much more. Very similar to Montville if you have been there. The visitor info place has a great free guide booklet with everything you need to see and do at Tamborine Mountain. Lots of food stores eat in or takeaway. Check out the website escapetotambourinemountain.com.au for ideas. We purchased items in the tea store amazing teas, Granny Mays fudge, Distillery liqueurs and lunch in Namoo a Korean cafe, the Italian cheese shop up in the fortitude brewery complex. All reviewed in Google maps. A great way to...
Read moreThe gallery walk is a great experience, in particular for tourists. Definitely worth making arrangements to see it, especially if you couple it with a small visit to the small botanic gardens in the area too.
If you're in to alcohol there's a wide variety of aged spirits and wines, if you're in to help there's even a shop for you. If you're interested in grabbing a great breakfast from a local business, seeing some beautiful rare wildlife and even learning about the rainforest, then this place is worth a visit. The only problem I really had was that strange feeling that this gallery walk as it's called, completely ignored and under appreciates it's own local art work. If you're coming here. Keep in mind, it's a place for art and local goods. Not a country tourist trap. It takes a bit of taste to...
