I donāt usually like to put up a review when I have a bad experience, but the service my family and I had at this cafe warranted one.
The pastries were delicious and so well made, and the cafe itself was so beautiful!
However, while we could have enjoyed our time eating there, the service we received by a particular staff member who took our order at the time (Friday 20/10 11:30am) left us feeling quite uncomfortable.
We werenāt greeted when coming in, which I donāt usually mind, but it was really the way they were communicating with us when we asked questions about the menu and ordered our food. They made no effort in being polite with us and chose to answer us in a very uninterested, annoyed tone, like we were inconveniencing them. The interaction immediately made us feel uncomfortable.
We were then served our pastries in takeaway bags after letting them know twice that we were dining in, and were rudely handed our baguette in a plate without asking whether we wanted it cut or not, or offered any cutlery with anything.
We were then forced to return to the front multiple times for plates and cutlery, and were given them in a rude manner, again like it was an inconvenience.
We assumed that this might be the usual practice there, so we didnāt complain about having to ask for plates/cutlery.
However, we then watched as the customers after us were served with a smile and a significantly better attitude. They were given plates and proper cutlery (while we were only offered plastic knives and forks) and treated with respect.
My family and I were left feeling unwanted in the cafe and took to finishing our food quickly so we could leave. Since we were obviously from a different background compared to other customers, we felt that this might have been a factor as to why we werenāt welcomed.
The other staff who brought out the rest of our food were wonderful and really eased our worries! Itās for this reason, and the quality of the food that I didnāt give a 1 star.
All we hope is that this staff member no longer treats any...

I arrived at the Gallery walk, just before 9 am and I asked a passing-by local āWhere can I find a local bakery that sells home-made on premises bakeryā ?ā¦and the answer was given ⦠āSee the green lawn there ?ā¦pointing out to the direction. Try this out it will be more than pleasing !!ā
When I arrived at Franquette, a warm welcome superseded my visual encounter with plethora of choices.
The aroma of freshly made coffee was pushing me for a choice and I tried the most simple out of many.
A sourdough baguette accompanied by a strong cappuccino. As I fetched the baguette, I felt the warm temperature and the top crusty surface but the baked to perfection bottom made it an irresistible holistic edible sensation.
I sat at this one of its kind cafe on Gallery walk and indulged.
At that moment, I knew I have to return for something else and I did return for lunch!
This time I immersed into a meal sized Almond croissant. The butter used was just perfect in taste and the crĆØme filling smooth with an absolute perfect balance of sweetness.
I spent 45 minutes to have this explosion of taste, creating a euphoria to remember.
As an additional courtesy the French creator Jerome, offered to everyone at the alfresco setting a taste of freshly baked hot cross buns in fruity, chocolate or plain choices.
The best I ever had in Australia!
As this fine, welcoming and āburst of tasteāboulangerie just turned 1 year old, I want to thank everyone for their attention to everything and wish you to many more years of success!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeāve been here twice in 3 weeks. We live 40 minutes away and during our first visit, we had to wait in a cue that reached the street for over half an hour and wait almost as long to get our full order. It was WORTH IT.
Hands down, best patisserie Iāve been to in Australia. We loved their coffees (although when we got the large size they were too milky) pastries and sandwiches.
The French onion toastie is everything you dream it to be if youāre a French onion soup lover like us. The crunch of the crust, the buttery soft loaf, the sweetness of the onions and the stretch in the cheese - YUMMMM!!!!
We also tried their Rueben, best one my partner ever had. We loved their chicken, Brie and pesto sandwich. Great flavors.
Pain au chocolat - oh my. The perfect amount of chocolate. And when you bite into it, you can see that golden ratio baby š they also made a pain au chocolat with lotus cookie spread - fabbb.
Almond croissant - best one weāve EVER had. Basque cheesecake - great, not a single complaint here. Baguette - perfection.
Everything here is as fresh as can be made right in the back. Staff are really lovely. I would recommend getting in as early as you can as my partner and I always end up arriving around 11am when a lot of things have run out and thereās a long line. This place is hugely popular and worth the hype.
They have outdoor seating (dogs welcome) but itās very hard to get a table with so many people waiting. My partner ate our food in bliss at handgliderās lookout instead.
I wish this beautiful, family business all the success...
