Drove past on the way to my grandparents and thought i'd treat them to lunch here. Tucked just past the end of the main gallery walk to the right, the outside is an unassuming white house and the restaurant is on the lower ground. The entrance was the front door next to a menu and "Open" sign. When you walk in the sound of the traffic and tourism outside gets shut out and you're enveloped by a cosy ambiance and unassuming background music. I got the Homemade Polpette de la Nonna with spaghetti and it was beautifully seasoned, the pasta was freshly made, the serving size was just enough, and it felt very much like a comfort food. The lasagne was also very well received especially by my grandfather who is normally a picky eater- wiped the plate clean! For dessert we got tiramisu and chocolate cake. The cake was gluten free and because of the almond flour-very dense and moist: a great chocolate cake. The tiramisu was a great balance of sweetness, crunch, and coffee. The desserts weren't too sweet which was nice. Our chef/server was lovely and attentive to our needs. Definitely make a reservation if you're heading in for dinner, but lunches are more flexible. The restaurant seats 22 max, but there was space in the car park for maybe 10, so carpool! Mains and dessert came to about $38 per person which was a deal for how great the meals were. It is BYO which they tell you when you book your reservation, accepts EFTPOS, unfortunately not wheelchair accessible(sloped driveway leads to four steps down to entrance), and has...
Read moreCame here for the first time with my husband. Our friends recommend. To be absolutely honest, this is ONLY my own experience and conclusion. I won't be back here again. The service was great, though. I didn't like that we were sitting slightly isolated from the big room where other people were sitting. My husband literally was facing a corner. The "restaurant" was converted from a living home. We ordered Classic Lasagne and Seafood Linguine. We were surprised that our meals came within 10 min or so, steaming hot. Both meals tasted delicious. I happen to hear a microwave door slam a few times while eating my dish. I questioned whether our meals were microwaved ... I can't prove that they were, but I also highly doubt they were cooked right then and there. If our meals were authenticly cooked, we wouldn't mind waiting and paying $38.00 for one of them.
EDIT: To the person who replied. I came to your restaurant for an experience. There was absolutely no need for your personal attack at me or my knowledge. I quote, "If you knew anything about cooking," or "To warn your friends not to send people like you." You have confirmed that our meals were, in fact, microwaved. If I bring a Health Safety Food Inspector, I doubt he will find a "professional microwave." In conclusion, your reply only publicly demonstrated your inability to accept a review that below your...
Read moreWe dined at 5:30pm on the first Saturday night of the school holidays. We booked using a Facebook link and they were back to us very quickly. They also made sure that we knew that it was BYO.
This felt intimate and welcoming, like having dinner in the house of a good friend. We were welcomed warmly at the door and there were plenty of tables to choose from. The decor was carefully curated to be appealing and homely.
The menu was broad in scope, offering the best of Italian dining. We settled on lasagne and a black ink tortellini with prawns. We chatted happily until a complimentary plate of olives in olive arrived that were divine.
The food was nothing short of extraordinary. Each mouthful had me marvelling at the composite of tastes and textures, with each sample building upon my enjoyment of its predecessor. My tortellini was superb in its preparation and presentation.
I enjoyed the food so much that I preferred two desserts and wasn’t disappointed. The tiramisu was served cleverly in a jar and the affogato with Frangelico had me swooning and addition of coffee beans was a taste and texture surprise. Both had a freshness that spoke of care in the kitchen.
We have spoken repeatedly about how much we enjoyed this evening - it...
