Old City Baku — Attraction in Baku City

The Old City is the most picturesque and beautifully serene place to visit in the whole of Baku. It will give you a nice and cozy feeling in a winter morning or afternoon. Please wear comfortable shoes for walking as it is a pebble and stone road mostly. There are plenty of eateries and coffee shops and a couple of fresh & cold pressed pomegranate juice stands prepared by local vendors. I personally went on a walking tour with a guide to which put meaning to the entire experience and enjoyed it more than I could have otherwise. They will show you oldest mosque, Roman baths and other historical places which are difficult to identify yourself sometimes (especially if it’s busy). The Old City of Baku is lovely. We enjoyed exploring the Old City several times. One complaint would be the city allowing cars in the old town. It made it difficult at times walking. I also felt uncomfortable with people asking repeatedly if we wanted a tour. I think banning cars and just having tour kiosks instead of people approaching you while walking is a better option for selling tours in the old city. Not a fan of dual pricing for tourist attractions, it's not a good look for a city trying to grow it's tourism industry. Tourists should never feel like they are being cheated or second class.
