⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A hidden gem in Icherisheher – bold, artistic, and welcoming

I recently stopped by Workshop Ali Shamsi on Kichik Qala Street in Baku’s Old City and was blown away by the incredible lion mural and the creative energy all around.

What I loved:

The lion face mural on the facade is breathtaking—rich in symbolic detail and captivating to look at. It draws in passersby instantly, especially at golden hour when the colors glow. A must for photos.

Quirky installations and whimsical exteriors, like the iconic painted‑faces tree nearby and art pieces adorning the walls, invite one to pause, observe and reflect.

Visitor tips:

Entry is free

Go early or late in the day to avoid photo crowds lining up at the mural.

Bring a camera—inside and out, everything is photogenic.

Highly recommend adding it to your Baku itinerary—a quick visit with lasting...

Beautiful little art studio of the local Azeri artist Ali Shamsi. His work is magnificent and he is very friendly and invites you inside his home to view his artwork. He also gives out small autographs to his guests. His artwork focuses on different things where he uses mixed media. Most of his art work is based on the pomegrante (national fruit of the Azeri) and eyes of cats such as...

Visited the place from the outside only. Looks like a cool art gallery with multiple art pieces. It was my birthday and it was in the end of May - a very windy day. The studio is hidden on one of the streets in the old city of Baku. It has amazing exterior design making it the place to be when in Baku, even just for the sake of taking 100 pictures. If I had more time I'd have visited it...

Have you heard about #IcheriSheher? Baku’s medieval Inner City, forms the historical core of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Until two centuries ago, all the city’s population lived in the walled district. The Old City is the most ancient part of Baku, which is surrounded by walls. It’s easy to spend a whole day exploring this medieval walled village. While the old city is filled with historical structures, atmospheric restaurants serving delectable Azerbaijani cuisines, souvenir shops selling Knick knacks; I particularly loved the art galleries here. There are half a dozen galleries and plenty of carpet stores to peruse throughout the labyrinthine streets; be ready to barter. One such gallery was #AliShamsiGallery, a painting gallery. I found this place while wandering the old city. This place is always crowded with people posing in front of the mural of Lion. There is also tree woman art opposite the studio. There are many installations on the walls outside of the studio so make sure to look at every detail cause it’s amazing. Thanks @brandonjperspectives for this beautiful click. And, many many thanks to @zohrememmedzade for introducing me to this beautiful place. #travelseewrite #travelvlog #travelblogger #travelvlogger #ilovebaku #azerbaijan #JazeeraAirways #travelseewrite #bakugood #baku #mammatus #trendingreels #bakugood #offbeattravel #bakugoods #caspiansea #medieval #unescoworldheritagesite
