I recently stopped by Workshop Ali Shamsi on Kichik Qala Street in Baku’s Old City and was blown away by the incredible lion mural and the creative energy all around.
What I loved:
The lion face mural on the facade is breathtaking—rich in symbolic detail and captivating to look at. It draws in passersby instantly, especially at golden hour when the colors glow. A must for photos.
Quirky installations and whimsical exteriors, like the iconic painted‑faces tree nearby and art pieces adorning the walls, invite one to pause, observe and reflect.
Visitor tips:
Entry is free
Go early or late in the day to avoid photo crowds lining up at the mural.
Bring a camera—inside and out, everything is photogenic.
