The AEON Mall Phnom Penh, more commonly known as the AEON Mall 1, is located right in the heart of Phnom Penh, right beside the Russian Embassy, and just a short river crossing away from Koh Pich Island. Due to its convenient location, the mall is very crowded and during peak hours, usually around lunch and dinner time, the mall runs over peak capacity, making any shopping experiences very uncomfortable. However, the mall has an abundant amount of shops and restaurants, and the basic amenities are also very clean and easily accessible. If you are a tourist, I wouldn't recommend you to go to AEON Mall Phnom Penh, as it is similar to any AEON Mall all across South East Asia, but as a resident of Phnom Penh, it provides me a simple access to foreign goods that can't be found in other supermarkets in Cambodia. To have a quiet and peaceful shopping experience, I would recommend visitors to go at off-peak hours, or to shop at AEON Mall 3 (Mean Chey) in the south of Phnom Penh, as it is usually less crowded than AEON Mall 1. Additionally, the three AEON Malls located across Phnom Penh is possibly the only place in the entire city to purchase relatively fresh and affordable Japanese food, and the taste still remains authentic, as the mall in itself is a symbol of the friendship between Japan and Cambodia. If you are a first-time "unexperienced" visitor of AEON Mall Phnom Penh, I have organised some useful tips that hopefully could be useful on your next visit. First, if you are arriving on a TukTuk, ask the driver to drop you off at the toll booth, beside the main "AEON Mall Phnom Penh" sign, as it will save you some time, because to enter the mall, all vehicles will have to pass by a toll gate, receive a parking ticket, and move its way through all the traffic and congestion. Trust me on this one, it's definitely way faster to walk just short distance than to waste time sitting in the TukTuk. This second tip is for drivers, if you haven't been to AEON Mall yet and you plan on visiting, note that the carpark does charge a fee based on the amount of hours stayed, for the first hour, parking is free, but if you have parked your car between 1 to 2 hours, it will cost you 2000 Cambodian Riels (or 0.5 USD), and for every additional hour parked, it will cost another 1000 Cambodian Riels. Also, don't lose the parking ticket that you will receive upon your entry into the car park, as the barcode on the piece of paper is what determines how long your stay is, and it's also the ticket that's required upon leaving the premises of the mall. Lastly, if you are a visitor coming from China, and that you plan on using WeChat Pay, it could be used in the AEON supermarket section, but only a few selected shops support payment through WeChat Pay, so make sure to bring some cash if your want to purchase any goods or enjoy a delectable meal outside of the AEON supermarket section. Before I end this review, I hope that you have found it helpful, and if you have, please leave a like on this review, it took some time writing this, and feel free to add on any tips or thoughts that you have on AEON Mall Phnom Penh in the response section, have a fantastic day, and I wish you a wonderful stay...
Read moreI originally went in to buy an iron, but a staff member convinced me that a steamer would be better and told me clearly that if it didn’t work for my needs, I could return it within five days. After trying it at home, I realized it was not suitable for my thicker clothing like blazers and skirts.
When I returned to the store (within the five day policy), I was met by a staff member named Nath Chansokhalai, who made the return process unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. Instead of listening to me as a customer or honoring what her colleague had told me, she seemed determined to prove me wrong , as if it were a personal challenge.
She Instead she publicly demonstrated the steamer at the checkout counter, calling another staff member to hold up a shirt while she tried to show it worked. When I explained that I don't have someone to hold my clothes at home in this manner while I steam them (does anyone lol), she went around the store and found a clothing rack to come back and demonstrate again how I was wrong.
Additionally, when I tried to explain that the items I needed to iron were thicker materials, work skirts and blazers, she crossed a boundary by bending down and grabbing my skirt that I'm wearing to see if I was correct about the material.
This is not how customers should be treated. I followed the advice I was given by Aeon staff, acted within the return window, and was met with disrespect, crossing physical boundaries and public shaming. Ultimately she denied my request. Potential customers should be aware of this gross negligence and feral behaviour...
