The ice cream is good quality, excellent consistency and mouthfeel, and the variety and flavor choices can be amazing, but... ...continuously discontinuing best-selling and popular flavors is a regular occurrence (not a wise business strategy), so understand that it happens and lower expectations should you come back. Sorbets can be good, but not consistently. Why?Sometimes they're crusty and dry, so they really should give these a stir before scooping. About the alcohol-infused sorbets: if you're selling them, it's likely your customers expect to taste the alcohol, not just the mixers (I mean, you're on a university campus and on the path to Wreck Beach, read the room). Again, uneven, sometimes done very well, other times not and mixing is more important for these types as the alcohol settles. If the sorbet looks dry, there's no alcohol in it, just crunch and icy disappointment. Service is middling, sometimes great, sometimes nondescript... kinda 60/40 more towards "disaffected students at a summer job" vibe. A lot of people working there so you think it would be faster but no. Don't think your tips or regular status affects the service or at least the portion factor; well-tested on multiple visits. Portions can be uneven. Sometimes you get a great portion, and sometimes it's skimpy. Apparently, this isn't an isolated incident, nor do the owners seem to address it if prior reviews are any indication. Tips are for exceptional service, and there was nothing exceptional save for rare circumstances; on the whole, they do exactly their job and nothing extra so when the portions also fluctuate, one questions the value. That is, why am I tipping on what ends up being an arbitrary portion lottery? Maybe cut the tip factor out and pay your staff a fair wage to start instead of guilting customers into "supplementing the operation costs" because if you want to insult regulars and cultivate mistrust, confusingly uneven service/portions is the way to do it, and that affects decisions on gratuity. Anyway, good product in general. Work on the rest (i.e. step up the training/supervision) to bump those stars up. Owners: your mobile truck "gets" the service aspect consistently; so should...

I love the creative flavours here. The core menu is great as is, and the monthly rotating flavours are super unique and fun. The monthly flavours occasionally include something savoury (past features include everything bagel, white chocolate chili pepper, sundried tomato) which obviously is not for everyone, but I love these and I hope they keep doing them. Mostly it's conventional (but still not always common) sweet flavours, though. For vegans, there's an excellent vegan vanilla ice cream and at least one seasonal. Their ice cream uses ingredients sourced from local farms. Although the flavours are almost always a hit for me, the quality of the actual ice cream occasionally lets me down. Sometimes it's great, but sometimes it's varying degrees of "icy" which makes it hard to properly enjoy the flavours. That being said, my most recent visit was one of the good ones! In particular, the orange sherbet on offer right now is awesome - it's not one of those artificial orange-swirled creamsicle-flavoured ice creams, but a creamy sherbet base swirled with a real orange reduction which is delicious and unlike any orange sherbet I've tried before! Rain or Shine is slightly more expensive than the average ice cream, but this can be explained by their local sourcing of everything. The "single" size is actually pretty big, though - the "kids" scoop is a good size for me if I don't want something too heavy, but the single 2 flavour keeps calling me back because it's too hard to choose just 1 flavour. Rain or Shine is my favourite Ice Cream place and this is my first time to come to this location at UBC.

Compared with the location I normally go to on Cambie, this location at UBC is very small. There are not many seats you can sit inside the store. I didn’t feel comfortable for having a seat right by the door. However, it was also a bit too chilly 🥶 for me to stand and enjoy my ice cream outside.

We had single two flavours today. In my opinion, it is the better deal that allows you to try two flavours at the same time. It is also a more responsible choice if you need to watch your calorie intake.

We went for two seasonal flings - Miso Dulcey Choc and Malt Choc Honeycomb. They were both surprisingly good and could not decide which one is better. Perhaps, Miso Dulcey Choc was more unexpected.
