pretty bad experience at this restaurant. We went in with a party of 6 to a relatively empty restaurant, one person in the party didn't want to order, so they asked him to leave, I got him to order one of my rolls to keep the party going. One of the people tried to order sashimi, which was on the menu, however the lady told us it wasn't available. Ok. He pointed out that they had sashimi bowls and asked if those were available which the server said they weren't. We then all ordered our food. One of the the types of salmon rolls also wasn't available that someone else wanted to order. One of the things I ordered was a "tamago nigiri" which was under the maki section for 1.95 and said that it came in 6 pieces. it was a bit weird but I got a 6 piece maki roll which was what I wanted. Later I asked to order another one and was told it wasn't available. I mentioned that I had literally just ordered one, and the server pushed back and bit and eventually I told her to not bother. She came back a few moments later and gave me the roll. On my bill I saw I was charged 3.95 for both rolls (a total of $8 which is double what I was expecting) I didn't bother arguing and just paid. We asked if we would be able to get just some avocado, and the server told us they couldn't do that. They didn't refill our water or tea once. This service was pretty terrible and I'll actively avoid this place...

New food location here at UBC and of course I had to try it out. The restaurant was very clean and had very good COVID 19 precautions set up with electronic little hand sanitizing bottles set up at the entrance and payment counter. The server was nice and very direct. The overall environment while in the environment was very comfortable.

They had quite the variety of food on their menu and at affordable prices considering campus food prices. The menu was large, not overcrowded with menu items, and easy to follow. I ordered Bento Box A with beef (roughly $14) to go. I went at around 3pm on a Sunday, there were a few tables inside and I waited for just over 10 minutes for my food, which was a little longer than I had expected. The packaging for takeout was pretty meticulous with everything being packed nicely in a large brown paper bag. The food was the typical bento box style food but everything was quite tasty. The beef to rice ratio was a bit lacking but the beef had adequate flavor and the added tamago (sweet eg) was a nice bonus. The California rolls were pretty good and the assorted tempura was light and did not leave an oily taste layer in my mouth.

Overall, a pretty good first experience here at this new establishment on campus. I will be back to try one of...

Order by phone if you want a free meal! This is my first time leaving a review for a restaurant but only because this restaurant exceeded all of my expectations on how terrible service could be. I called them at 7:30pm to order take out, they took down my order, name and number and told me it would be around 30min. I went to the restaurant around 8:10pm, and had to speak with 3 different employees for them to realize that they didn't take down my order (although no explanation or apology was actually given). They tried to see if I called the downtown location instead of the UBC one but when I showed them my outgoing calls to verify the number, they did not know their own phone number and had to check that I did call the right location - which I did. They wrote down my order again and just walked away. When my food was finally ready, the employee handed me the bag of food and just walked away again. I had to remind him that I needed to pay. After 10-15min more of just standing there waiting, the employee finally remembered to bring me the machine to pay and just yanked the machine away as soon as I tapped my card, did not even say thank you afterwards. Very disappointed with the horrible service and lack of...

The food is good but portions are small compared to what you are spending. There are much better ā€˜bang for your buck’ places at UBC, including Steve’s poke just next door. I believe if this place increased their portions or reduced their prices, it would be much more busy. During lunch rush, every other place is flowing with people except this one, and for a valid reason. Their combos only contain 4 rolls compared to the usual 6 and only about 3 pieces of fried chicken. It is a good alternative if the steves line, chipotle line and DL chicken line is too long but you are paying the same price for about half the food as these places will get you. If you are a big eater, do not expect to be full off of one of their combos, even if you get some rolls on the side. Overall was pretty disappointed with what they offered, considering Ryuu poke down the street at wesbrook mall is amazing.

The sushi, tempura, and miso soup at RYUU are delicious! It's a treat to be able to grab such a satisfying lunch on campus. I also had a taste of my friend's kimchi udon, which was equally tasty. However, the service here might not be up to par. There were few smiles and the checkout process was painfully slow. Our attempts to get attention were ignored, even when we were standing right at the counter.
