[Update:] Its not how you "Start"... it's how you "Finish". When Cantina opened it was truly an amazing experience from the staff customer interaction to the actual food. Its now unfortunately "average" at best when it comes to the food portion and worse yet when it comes to the staff customer interaction. I'm sure a large portion is dealing with tourists in our beautiful town and how it can be frustrating but it shouldn't mean you go from 10/10 to 5/10 in a matter of 4-5 months. Bernard Street is a tough cookie to run a business on and restaurants have even worse odds with so many options, so I hope my last two unimpressive visits can be changed by a third and maybe final visit but I'm not holding my breath after the previous experiences. Everyone deserves "one bad day" but not multiples, that just speaks volumes of a dip in quality on the two most important portions of the hospitality business. It's not the summer rush or high time businesses that Catina needs to worry about, it's the winter portion when the tourists are all gone and your loyal locals keep you busy.

Another visit shall be the tell tale...stay tuned.

Oh my god... I've travelled the world (pre-covid) including doing business in Mexico multiple times and I have to say, Cantina's menu and cocktails is some of the best Mexican cuisine I've ever had. Of course in North America we are accustom to a different flavour profile when it comes to Mexican cuisine and Cantina takes the gold medal. This place is the utmost quality when it comes atmosphere, customer service & food in the Okanagan. You have too... no scratch that...you MUST go here! The prices are reasonable and the food is unbelievable. Bravo Cantina del Centro... few places leave me speechless because of their level of quality & service. If you had to rename "Cantina del Centro"... it would be one word......

I am not usually the type to write negative reviews of any sort but my experience Friday night was terrible. My husband, I and other couple friends wanted to have a nice night out for dinner without the kids. I had called the restaurant and spoke to a gentleman that worked there to make a reservation (at the time of the call he was very polite and I thought helpful) he took my information to book a reservation (2 tables side by side was what we agreed on or I would have not booked the reservation) we had 6 at one table then 3 at another and instead of following through with his word he put us at 2 booths away from each other. We understand the covid rules and told him we will not be getting up from tables nor switching seats at any time, but they did not do the tables side by side that they offer at the front of the restaurant that we had booked over the phone…so that was very disappointing! Next, the waitress was very rude and right in my husbands face (we unfortunately forgot his mask and I didn’t have anymore in my purse so he asked for a mask and the restaurant staff told us they didn’t have any…EVERY other restaurant we have been to have them for customers too just in case this happens) then the manager comes up and wouldn’t stop going on and on and said “he could fill our table no problem if we wanted to leave” VERY unprofessional especially being in a manager position. As saying all of this 4 of us decided to leave as we were not happy to spend our money here after all of this. We had to pay for babysitters and taxis and we felt just so upset over all of this we just decided to go home…definitely was not in the...

my best friend and i came here for a lunch date today , and left extremely disappointed. our server had extremely poor customer service. we felt ignored for the entire duration of our stay. took her about 20 minutes to even take our drink order. and there was only 1 other table present. seems like she was more interested in gossiping with the bar tender. i understand chatting with your co worker during a shift , but if that means ignoring ur customers than that’s just not cool. also took about 10 minutes for my best friend to receive a diet coke. food took over half an hour to come to the table and had to continuously ask for refills and get our servers attention….asked for no cilantro on my burrito due to an allergy and to no surprise , was given the cilantro. again, not a huge deal but with the overall experience of this place it was just the cherry on top. clearly unorganized staff. very disappointed. as for my best friend -she had ordered a quesadilla and it came out with only 2 pieces, if this is how small an entree is ,please inform customers. it was also extremely soggy and little to no cheese! she had also asked for a side of sour cream and once again took a solid 10 minutes for that to arrive at our table as well. we were clearly unhappy and unsatisfied. we were offered zero compensation for the inconvenience/horrible service. definitely...

We stopped in on a whim after reading some positive reviews on this restaurant. While it isn’t terrible, it certainly has a lot to improve on. The restaurant itself is fairly clean, nice decor, and modern. It doesn’t feel very authentic - very Americanized-Mexican. This is not a bad thing as it contributes to the overall experience, however it seems very corporate. The biggest downside here was the service. Incredibly slow, awkward, and unfriendly. There was around 4 front of house staff working (excluding the bar) and we were barely acknowledged. They could have gotten another two drinks out of us had they been able to check in on time. Not sure if this was due to scheduling/being busier than expected, however it was a Friday night and half empty, so it didn’t feel justified. Our server, while polite, was not around much, and did not seem very comfortable in her position. The food was tasty, although fairly small portions for value. I believe this is due to the fact it is in a high traffic area which justifies the price, and while the food is certainly edible it is not as fantastic as the price and atmosphere would lead you to believe. We would be open to trying this restaurant again in the future, however we will not be hurrying back based on the slow and impersonal service and the price v. quality offered

I went to Cantina del Centro for the first time last weekend. First of all big thank you to Nicole who gave us an amazing service from the beginning. She is very fun and attentive. I was not expecting the food to be this fantastic, I was really shocked. Being from Mexico I always have high expectations. Everything was delicious, excellent presentation and great mix of ingredients. I rarely like burritos as I don't consider them authentic Mexican food, rather TexMex; but their Brunch Burrito is out of this world. I tried a bit of the Huevos Rancheros and Eggs Benny with chorizo. They were fantastic as well. Still can't decide which dish was my favorite. The House michelada was perfect to go with the brunch... did I mentioned the tequila shot? (Smooth and nice...not Cuervo lol). The decoration, music and ambiance was great. I wish I wasn't that far, I would be their regular; definitely will come back on my next visit to Kelowna.

My wife and I arrived early for our reservation, so they offered to seat us at the bar until our reservation time. This was perfect because it was snowing quite hard, and we didn't have anywhere else to be! Once seated, we ordered drinks and food with the promise of being moved at our scheduled reservation time. Unfortunately/fortunately, our table wasn't ready as scheduled... Our server was super apologetic and offered to cover our appy, which was completely unexpected and, in our opinion, unnecessary. When a table did become available, we turned it down because we were enjoying ourselves so much at the bar. The server did her best to try and do us right, but we were more than content where we were. It was a great meal, great service, and awesome atmosphere. The only thing I might comment on was the volume of the music.. slightly too loud for my liking, but the playlist itself was excellent!
