This is place is the glue, the hub and structural foundation of this awesome and unique town.

All towns need a Riverwalk Commons. And all municipal governments should offer their residents a community hub that is as expertly conceptualized as Riverwalk Commons.

Community centres should be accessible to all people in the communities they are built to serve, and be accessible in two main ways for everyone, while meeting the needs to every possible demographic in their town so that people care drawn to participate in the community.

It's a political investment, that that like most social & community health investments that politicians make, repays what it's worth tenfold.

Having a location that is as uniquely versatile as Riverwalk Commons, really brings the community together in the most positive and fulfilling ways.

The Commons' ability to successfully and efficiently host a wide array of high quality recreation programs, leisure opportunities and community events, while being easily accessible to most residents in Newmarket due to a thorough and comprehensive approach at reducing barriers for all of it's residents.

The centres success lies in it's ability to create inclusion for all by avoiding participant barriers.

It is an easily accessible location to most, and is where Fairy Lake and mother nature and downtown and the main strip of an always feoiwnof this amazing and unique town and community. unique, accessible and inclusive layout, and location should be all Municiplaitys goals.

The town deserves credit and high praise for creating a community gathering spot like no other.

Off of Main St Newmarket, aka as "the downtown core", it interects with Newmarket's Only lake, enhancing and increasing the opportunities everyone in the com place to tune into nature and enjoy the outdoors in the beauty of Fairy Lake, Newmarket o and leaving it solely a place for all who live here,a t for most all who livCombined with community (combined with an above average amount of awesome and kind-hearted ppl per capita, obviously :p) what...

Riverwalk Commons is truly within the heart of Newmarket. Live concerts, outdoor theatre/movie nights, farmers markets… there’s always something happening.

On a day when it’s quieter in the area, there is a beautiful, looping trail that goes around the pond in Fairy Lake. It’s accessible for wheelchair and other various mobility devices to utilize year-round, and even in the winter, the paved path seems to be fairly well-kept and clear of snow and debris.

In the summer, there’s a clean and open-access splash pad that’s always bustling with activity. There’s a ramp leading into the water, which is perfect for young children or those using mobility aids. In the winter, it’s turned into a skating rink that’s maintained by the town throughout the day and they (may) have support bars available for those less confident in their skating skills.

Along Riverwalk Commons, there are tons of small shops and local businesses within walking distance. Walk 500 metres to Main Street and you’ll find a wide variety of restaurants, some offering live music on certain nights. Like many small town Main Streets, it’s family-friendly and bustling with events and activities during the day, although it’s important to travel in pairs and in well-lit areas at night, especially if you’re taking advantage of the various late-night restaurants and local bars.

The older buildings are well-maintained and some have been turned into historic sites to learn more about the rich history of the Newmarket area. There are tons of hidden gems and no matter how many times you visit, there’s always something new...

Riverwalk Commons in Newmarket is a vibrant community hub that offers something for everyone, making it a standout destination in the town. Located in the heart of downtown, this space seamlessly blends urban charm with family-friendly amenities, creating an ideal setting for residents and visitors alike.

The design of Riverwalk Commons is both modern and inviting, featuring a central open area that hosts numerous events throughout the year, including farmers’ markets, concerts, and festivals. During the warmer months, it transforms into a lively gathering spot, with outdoor seating and lush landscaping adding to its appeal. In winter, the space becomes a picturesque skating rink, drawing families and friends for a quintessential Canadian experience.

One of the most remarkable features is its accessibility. Situated close to Main Street, it allows easy access to local shops, restaurants, and cafés, enriching the overall experience. The splash pad is a hit with children in the summer, while the beautifully lit walking paths and public art installations make it a peaceful retreat for adults.

However, parking can sometimes be a challenge during peak times, and additional facilities could further enhance the site. Nonetheless, Riverwalk Commons is a well-loved space that successfully brings the community together and highlights Newmarket’s commitment to creating vibrant...

Beautiful place for an after dinner walk on main st Newmarket! Easily a go to spot for a walk anytime of day. The area is clean and most importantly safe. The area includes a beautiful water feature where children can cool off in the summer or skate on in the winter. My favourite part of this area is the farmers market on Saturdays.

Riverwalk Commons has ice skating in the winter along with the Jay Millar Ice Lounge and every Saturday starting in mid May it hosts the Newmarket Farmers Market. Riverwalk is an excellent venue for concerts and festivals as well. Its located in the heart of Newmarket just behind Main Street beside the Lions Hall Community Centre.
