Wonderful location and the staff is lovely and pleasant. I have come here in the past. Last time I booked was in October or November for a birthday and everything was wonderful. The view is fabulous. This is NOT the restaurant for you if: You don't know how to use technology (my 84 yrs father). No clue how to look at the menu online. If the restaurant offers to bring him a tablet he thinks it's a pill. I understand wanting to save the environment , so suggestion. laminate a few menus you can reuse and wipe down. We are still touching your tablet if you bring that over (if you are going to use the hygiene as a reason) You want to leave technology at home because you would like a dinner without the use of technology. How impersonal. You bring us a paper with a Code to scan in with our phones. The paper is laminated and looks cheezy.. you may as well have laminated menus. And now I have to use my phone to look at my order. SMH... lets continue to move away from being personal - I guess a scan code is "cool". well that white piece of paper looks ugly for a nice restaurant with a fabulous view. No more Friday entertainment (we had booked our party on Friday because of the awesome piano bar music in the past). I get it, perhaps a budgetary issue. so if you are looking for the lovely music that was played, please look elsewhere. And if you try to phone the venue to ask a few questions, don't bother. you won't get anyone. If you try to contact the restaurant prior for a special request/ accommodation you can't. No phone is listed. When you do find one through deep digging on the internet, you don't get a live person and you can't leave a voice mail Parking is horrendous. It is a shame. If you are healthy and mobile you can park in the area by the lake, but if you can't walk very far, those extra parking spots belong to the church, don't get towed. A friend that came with us went home because there was no parking available. Nothing the venue can do, but it is something you should be aware of.
The fact my dad and others that are technically challenged and unable to perform the simple and basic task of looking at a menu to order themselves and they can't be accommodated by the venue is enough reason for me not to ever return. In 2022 we should not be making things more prohibitive and difficult for people, especially for our seniors, those that can't use technology and to those that want to leave technology at home. The icing on the cake for me is not being able to call the venue to speak to someone to ask by phone... can we bring a cake for a birthday, or can we put an icecream treat for a youngster in the freezer? or we have a reservation at 6pm, can we please come at 5:30pm to bring some balloons and decorate a chair is annoying. I'm really turned off by the non human contact and frustrated by not being able to get answers to simple questions. very...
Read morePete and Jenn are the new owners as of April 12, 2017. I'd never been to Cachet before, but having met these very kind individuals and learning about their interest in giving back to the community any way they can...I really wanted to go check them out and give them some business! :) We had a family celebration planned and I knew I wanted to come here.
I brought a party of 6 with me, and made a reservation for the private dining room. Right away, we were greeted, met Pete, and he made us feel very welcome as he showed us to the reservation. Jenn was away for the weekend, but I had spoken to her on the phone and she was so pleasant. It was a great space, with a gorgeous bay window and fireplace. It was just us in the room and it felt nice and private while still being close to the kitchen. We had no problem enjoying our conversation.
We had the mushroom ravioli x2 (SO good, had a lovely flavour), chicken club x2 (fries were so tasty and crispy), a reuben (very tasty, and done differently so that you could put it together with the puff pastry), a margherita pizza (so simple but tasty, and definitely work the price), the calimari (good), sweet potato fries (SO good, just the right amount of crispy and salty). The coffee was also SO surprisingly good, and Heather, our server was so friendly. She was on top of our needs and anticipated them well, but gave us space to enjoy our meal as well.
We had a great meal and were very happy with the serving sizes (a couple of us had some leftovers to take home). We were then totally surprised with this beautiful chocolcate mousse cake that was personalized to congratulate a member of the party for an achievement that was the cause for celebration that night. We were so touched and impressed with going above and beyond with this cake (that was so delicious, too!). Pete came by again to say hi and check in about how we enjoyed the meal, and he was just so sweet.
All in all, we had a wonderful night and were just floored by how positive and friendly EVERYONE was throughout the day. It really made our evening, and we will be back without a doubt (next time probably on the patio).
I HIGHLY recommend for everyone to give this restaurant a new try with these great new owners. They are SO lovely and they are really making this great, beautiful restaurant a friendly hotspot around town with tasty,...
Read moreI can confidently say this was the absolute worst restaurant I've been to in Newmarket :( I had high expectations because it was hyped when it first opened! Disclaimer - I get that they haven't worked in months, but as a restaurant, you should pride yourself on the food you serve and know when it's not ready to go out to a customer. If your dishes are $20, I should not get a better meal from my michelina's microwaveable meals at home. It definitely felt like a homemade picnic meal rather than a meal I'd enjoy at a patio.
I'd like to say our server was very kind and apologized in advanced for anything because she was new. Another pro: The sangria was also very good, and not watered down.
Now the bad...and there's a lot of bad. Our food took exactly an hour to come out and it was way less than mediocre. The descriptions did not match the presentation or taste at all. Deb's burger was hard as a rock and in the 4 years I've been dating my bf, this is the first time I've seen him not finish a meal and he is the least picky person I know! He only had a few bites. Also the burger was advertised with "all the signature classic toppings" but it came with a slice of tomato, a few slivers of raw red onion and a couple of leaves or arugula. Uhhh, lettuce??? Cheese??? Sauce??? Pickles??? He had to use the little condiment packets of ketchup and mustard to season his burger. The chicken club was cold in the middle and my friend also did not finish it. The sauce was off and the bread was hard. My dish, the butter chicken was alright- not great not bad at all. I finished it because I was starving by the time we got our food (2:20pm without any food the whole day- you would too!). It says a lot when the butter chicken dish at a Caucasian pub is the best dish that came out....
Overall we were very disappointed and my bill was near $50 after tip. There are way better choices a few steps away down the street- I don't recommend eating here. Maybe...
