I don’t know if its always like this with the younger employees that work here, but all of them have attitudes, and they always seem to be hanging out with friends (that don’t work there) filming tiktoks while on the clock.

Also if you accidentally forget a belonging or packaged food in the store, don’t even bother coming back for it, the employees will throw it out or take it for themselves and then lie about it to your face pretending that they don’t know what your talking about. This happened to me today. I forgot a bag of food (in a take out box) there, and upon realizing 10 minutes later, I ran back and asked the employees if they saw it. They just looked at me weird, gave each other a look and said “no”. When I walked out of the store another customer came out a few seconds later and told me that the employees just straight up lied to me.. apparently they took my food. Like I know its on me for forgetting it, but to lie about it when I came back? Come on man.

Other then that, the service in terms of getting your drinks made is decidedly alright.

Edit: after getting a response, thank you to Joe for clearing up the misunderstanding. I wasnt aware of the store policy on lost food, I apologize for being rude in this review. I figured since the food was boxed that it would have been set to the side for a bit longer, but I understand why it was thrown out. Again that was on me. As for your employees, thank you for speaking with them, i get it that she panicked and felt bad so she just responded the way she did. I don’t appreciate being lied too when it was clearly thrown out, but I get that she might have been nervous that in the moment. For that I apologize to the employee for being too hard on her in this review as well. I really appreciate you Joe for taking the time to resolve...

I've been to this tea shop a couple of times, as bubble tea is hard to come by in Newmarket, and I have been consistently disappointed with every visit. If you are looking for a Taiwanese-style bubble tea joint, this is not the place for you. The staff are unwelcoming, unknowledgeable of their own menu items, and work very slow to process an order. I've had an order messed up more than once. It also seems like menu ingredients are out of stock a lot. The fact that they sell tea accessories and loose-leaf teas feels like a gimmick, as they don't even sell hot teas by the pot and almost all of the menu items are iced. The iced teas aren't anything special either. Judging by their menu choices and the drinks I've had, it seems like they don't even know what real bubble tea is. The drinks themselves are the most pricey bubble tea I've seen. The tapioca is very bland and way under cooked. I've once ordered one of the "Awesome" teas from the menu (one of their priciest drink items) and had little actual liquid; as there was more ice than liquid and an entire cut lime. The rest of my experiences of ordering their iced teas either came out very bland or extremely bitter. The only good menu item I've come by is their popping boba toppings. Would I try this place again? No. I've given it many chances, but I will not return for...

The Fresh Tea Shop is located at the end of the Historic Main Street in Newmarket, just a few steps away from Fairy Lake and tons of local businesses

The employees are always so friendly and down to earth, as well as knowledgeable about the various drinks offered. Seasonally, there’s usually something new to try! Pricing is a bit steep and their baked goods are heavily overpriced, although I understand this is a franchise standard and there isn’t much this location can do to change this

The interior decor is lovely and the fireplace is a really warm touch to the space. My husband and I enjoy walking upstairs to sit down, have a drink, and play chess that’s available for use on the tables. Although, the paint colour on the wall is very old and tacky and the washrooms aren’t incredibly maintained

Overall, it’s a solid choice to visit in Newmarket for a refreshing drink and a study session with friends. The employees are wonderful and we’re always so impressed by their professionalism...
