So my husband and I went to Sobey's in Niagara falls for a shop. In particular, we were looking for a specific fish and so we drove from Niagara on the Lake to Niagara falls for fresh fish on a Sunday morning. Our basket is full. We make it to the cash register. There is a middle aged man cashing out in the next lane beside us and he checks out. He picks up his brown bag. As he's about to exit the lane, the cash person says very rudely - in command mode tone "Excuse me, can you please take your buggy." I was absolutely floored. I was thinking we all have choices. He comes on a Sunday morning to shop and chooses Sobey's - which we know is an upscale store with higher prices. He probably chooses it for it's premium selection and services. What does he get this Sunday morning? He gets attitude. He was gracious and took the buggy to the exit and did as he was told. I honestly have never seen such a poor tone & attitude towards a customer. I know that the cashier is probably intending on training Sobey customers to take their buggies. It's a courtesy for everyone should the customer do it. But with these super high prices of food right now, you think that Sobey's can have a staff person on hand should a customer choose not to put the buggy back. Its the least amount of service that he wanted/ needed this morning, was for somebody else to take care of the buggy because for whatever reason he felt he couldn't or it was an inconvenience at that moment. I'm honestly just feeling customers should expect better. Train your staff to be more conscientious that sometimes people have other things on their mind or they don't feel that they can handle a cart at the moment. Instead of barking at a customer Sobey's should have somebody else on staff to take care of that. Try this instead "Can I take care of your buggy for you sir, it's our pleasure! Happy Holidays!" Do better...

Read moreMy experience here overall in the store is independently based however there are the moments that I do ask for service which is at the deli and I want to give that service 2 stars. I have yet to be treated with equality and respect. I am often overlooked and when I have been standing there a whole and an elderly over 55 person comes in, the attendant looks at me as if to say the other person was her first. They often SERVE them first and I sit waiting to it get attitude after. I find the staff highly discrimotory this way. They assume because you are younger you can't buy from the deli or don't know how to order. Today the man actually passed my wait time off to another woman who claimed she was there first when I had been standing behind 2 people patiently. Then he told me the woman would take care of me. He told her what I wanted and I found it odd that what I get exactly everytime came to $5.00 more. When the price is $3.99 per gram I still don't pay close to $20.00 and then she said well it's a little over but she didn't tell me before hand.. I find their deli workers disrespectful to younger women and dismissive. I'll be taking my deli shopping to Commissos. This is after a smile and a how are you? They always seem like you are disturbing them at Sobeys. The only person sweet is the younger student whowork there. The older ones need lessons in non-discriminatory...
