I really have mixed feelings about posting anything about shopping at the Scottish Loft with my Dad yesterday. Howsomever, he really wanted a Scottish mug for his morning coffee. We chatted with the two ladies working in the shop about how he wanted a bigger than average mug, and that he did not want a made in China mug. He wanted a made in Scotland mug. I left him in their care looking at all the mugs and made my way to the back of the shop where the biscuits etc., are. I picked out salted caramel shortbread and a package of two single serving sticky toffee puddings, my Dad's favourite treats. When I met my Dad at the front of the store he was excited about the mug that they found, with lovely artwork of a Scottish cow. He was also contemplating a 9 3/4 diary, which he decided to buy. He bought a Scottish Loft reusable bag to put all his goodies in. He had so much fun, however the experience quickly soured when we arrived home. The mug is small and it is made in China. It says nothing on the bottom of the mug, however it says so in the fine print on the bottom of the box that the manufacturer packaged it in. He feels bamboozled - his word. The salted caramel shortbread is good. He's saving the sticky toffee puddings and the 9 3/4 diary for...
Read moreI stop here on every trip to NOTL and love browsing! Great variety but also nice, high quality items.
If you haven't purchased a Home County Co. candle, they are so worth it! I am on my second of the The Midlands scent. This candle has lasted me a whole year, and it's much better quality than what you would purchase at a home decor store. Of course I repurchased on my most recent trip along with the nicest greeting cards printed in the UK.
The family that owns the store is also super lovely and I've chatted with them on a couple of occasions, making the experience that much more enjoyable. Great spot, will of course be returning on...

From tartan scarves and cozy wool throws to whisky glasses that demand a wee dram, this place is a love letter to Scotland. Add in a wall of UK candy that could make even a grown adult squeal (Maybe not squel but there was drool), and you’ve got yourself a full sensory experience. I was nearly transported back to the Isle of Skye. These items? Legit. Authentic. No “made-in-somewhere-else” knockoffs here.
Also, bonus points for the Harry Potter merch—because clearly they know their audience and are not above a little wizardry to...
