Gyros on the Lake — Restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake

I grab takeaway from there every few weeks or so, usually between shifts at the theatre nearby. I'd say hands down best value for your dollar on the main street and the food is great. I usually go with the chicken dinner platter with rice, but the fries are really good too. Great tzatziki sauce and pita bread on the side. Besides value, I cant say enough good things about the service. There's 3-4 young ladies on staff I encounter that run the counter and expedite the orders. Always feel welcomed without it being over the top, quick service, and a good chance they know what I usually order. Would highly recommend for locals working nearby as a quick way to grab something on lunch or dinner break. It's the quickest takeaway option for a full meal, and really the only takeaway/sit-down hybrid I can think of on the main street. We were on a search for some good food but reasonably priced, and every place we looked a meal was anywhere from $25 and up, and for a family of 4 this will add up really quickly. Gyros on the lake was amazing, prices for a plate with chicken or beef lamb, salad, pita bread, rice or fries was under $14! Good portion size, you will be full and it's delicious food. My husband is Greek, so we know what good Greek food tastes like. We ordered 4 Beef Lamb gyro and 1 chicken dinner. The Spanakopita is enough for 2 individuals, we ordered 2 and it was perfect for 4 of us as an appetizer. This will be our go to spot anytime we are in Niagara-on-the-lake! It was also wonderful to see an all women team working together. After speaking to the owner's daughter, she told us the other 2 ladies working with her are sisters and they are like one big family. Right off the bat the fantastic smell caught the attention of my date, which then knocked my socks off. At first I was hesitant because of all the fancy looking restaurants around… once we entered inside and I saw the chef in the back cooking it up with passion I knew it was the right spot! My lovely date ordered the chicken pita combo, and I got the gyro pita (beef & lamb) which was recommended as the most popular. The person that took our order was very friendly and kind. We blinked and the food was ready. As soon as we opened the environmentally friendly packaging that fantastic smell surrounded us. From first observation it looked like a great amount of meat… after the first bite it was confirmed. It tasted so good, all the flavors were hitting. My date was a big fan of the chicken pita she got, and her french fries were superb! Would definitely recommend to a friend and will be going back!...
