After a long drive, we were hungry and looking for lunch. We decided to try Fournos based on what seemed like good reviews. We entered off the Main Street into a sketchy staircase to the basement. Some of the best restaurants I’ve tried in the past have been similar so I was optimist. We entered and it smelled like a backed up toilet. It was around 1 pm so we chalked it up to a busy lunch hour they had. Server was nice and quickly brought over menus. I looked at the menu in the car so I knew we were going to order saganaki and I wanted the grilled veggie wrap. We started with drinks and found they were out of lots of things and only had ginger ale, coke or Diet Coke available for sodas. Then we tried to order lunch only to find out they were out of the two things I mentioned above. We landed on the chicken souvlaki lunch, moussaka lunch and my toddler ordered chicken fingers and fries valued at $20 since they didn’t have a kids menu. The food took forever to arrive. It was almost 2 pm by the time food made it to the table. Food was ok. Side salad was fresh, fries were good. Not sure what took so long as most of our items were made ahead of time and it was pretty much just assembling the plates. For the price of the chicken fingers, I was expecting something better than what we got. Frozen store bought chicken fingers. Server didn’t check on us and took forever to clear plates when we’re done. We finished up and moved on. I took my toddler to the washroom before heading out. We found the washroom entry, and walked into some sort of sketchy storage closet that was left open. We entered the washroom and waited our turn. There is enough room for two people in the washroom and no room to move. My toddler wanted to go to the washroom myself so he went into the stall and I closed the bi fold closet door behind him and went to the other washroom as we were the only ones in there. We honestly should have just used to the public washroom as they would been cleaner. Someone else came in and pushed open the door on my toddler since the door was off the track and they don’t actually lock. Honestly, it felt like a waste of time and money. The place needs a good clean, the vents are covered in a thick layer of dust and every corner is full of dirt. Tons of things were broken (railed on stairs were loose, missing pieces of ceiling, broken washroom door) and the service wasn’t great.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re craving authentic Greek cuisine, this place is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere set the perfect tone—warm, welcoming, and vibrant without being overwhelming. Food: The food was truly on point. Every dish tasted fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The appetizers had just the right balance of seasoning, and the main course was a perfect showcase of authentic Greek flavors. Each bite had the kind of richness that tells you the ingredients are carefully chosen and prepared with pride. Service: The service here is exceptional. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with helpful suggestions and a genuine smile. They clearly care about their guests having the best dining experience possible, which made me feel both comfortable and valued. Overall Experience: What stood out most was the combination of top-notch food and outstanding service. It’s rare to find a restaurant that excels in both areas, but this one does. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience that leaves you eager to return. And if you’re ever in Niagara-on-the-Lake and craving Greek food, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

When you visit Niagara-on-the-Lake during busy times, you often just grab a spot wherever you can. That’s how we ended up here. I’ll be honest, I’m not usually a big fan of Greek food (bad past experience), but we didn’t have much choice. We were a large group with kids and even dogs, and the staff welcomed us without issue, which I really appreciated. They set us up with a big table on the back patio, and both the host and server were friendly and patient, answering all our questions. A few of us tried the Greek beer and really enjoyed it. The vibe of the place was decent, casual, nothing fancy. Cocktails were just okay, nothing to write home about. As for the food, those who ordered Greek dishes found it fine, not bad, but not particularly memorable either. Presentation was average, portions were decent, flavors were just okay. On the other hand, the burgers were a hit, everyone who ordered one loved it. Overall, it was an okay experience. It did the job, but personally, it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit again if I had other options.

Visited this restaurant with my family and was extremely disappointed the portions are extremely small and the restaurant needs to be cleaned the washroom had toilet paper all over the place and looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months I thought I would call the owner before I would post a review and let him know that we were hungry once we left and he basically told me there is nothing he Would do for me he hasn’t had a complaint in 20 years which I have informed him that there is numerous complains of his portions and quality of food on his Google reviews.

It might be that this owner is not actually Greek and has never had a comparison to what Greek food is really like so I would suggest him or anybody else looking for a real Greek food to visit Mythos Greek cuisine in Burlington , Or at least look at the menu and check out the quality and portions that they provide.

Felt Ripped off coming here and also told my wife I would’ve rather ate McDonald’s.

Would not recommend at all

/////////Response to owners review /////////

Your lack of professionalism definitely reflects on your business I never called in and asked you for anything free I basically told you that instead of leaving a review Decided to call you and speak to you instead regarding my experience and you were extremely rude and disrespectful and only went to see how you have been in business for so long and have never had any other complaints or let me tell you you haven’t been reading your Google reviews my friend.

I also visited the restaurant with five people and we all ordered five separate meals so don’t act as if I Ordered only one meal.

Your immaturity of a response stating for me to go eat fast food let me tell you I’d prefer to eat fast food and frozen food instead of visiting your restaurant.

Your responses to customers also reflects on your business if you had any sense you would know how to take criticism...

Although this may be a quaint little restaurant on the strip of the beautiful Niagara On the Lake city, and the service to a near by passer could be presentable. Do not let the food and service of the management fool you. Myself and my family has recently stopped to dine at Fourno's whilst passing in the city. The food was great at first, and even though the servers did push lamb for purchase recommending it "The best food we offer, we sell lots on the daily" Trusting in the servers for our dinning experience we then picked just that, along with some other fine foods they offer. We however did not for-sea that very shortly after coming home, that this lamb decided to turn in our favor. We understood this, humans make mistakes. perhaps it was the last lamb, and the manager had pushed this against us, perhaps this lamb fell on the floor, and we were the innocent passers to have met with this fate of eating it. Perhaps a lot of things.

What shocked me the most, was when calling the morning after. I had reached out to the owner of the establishment, and spoken to him in regards to one of my family member, and how they are now dealt with food poisoning. He was apologetic at first. Yet at the first sign of a mention towards health inspector /or to further evaluate the health and wellness of the restaurant. His exact words were.."Oh ma'me, you can do what EVER you like (Manager proceeds to laugh on the phone with his colleges). Never have I been so belittled, especially from a manger. This person, should really learn a thing or two about courtesy speaking with other humans. Since being a decent person himself is out of his vocabulary. Safe to say, I will never step foot into this "Establishment" Rest a sure. and...
