I don't leave long reviews often but this location needed it. Decided to go to this place for my fiancé's birthday through recommendation. Was sorely disappointed! While booking over the phone the receptionist was friendly. I wanted to book an overnight stay with a 3 course dinner and some spa services. Seems they don't customize any of the spa packages. What you see on their website is what you get. I booked the "Spa and wellness package". Check-in is at 4pm which seems a little later than I would've liked. Not to mention all of the spa services close at 5pm. I had to completely change our itinerary so that we'd arrive much earlier to actually be able to enjoy any of the services the spa offered. We're lucky our room was ready earlier in the day otherwise we would've had to carry our belongings all morning. Despite notifying 2 people via phone call and the front desk upon arrival there was nothing special for my fiancé's birthday. No card, chocolate, nothing. Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly face and welcoming atmosphere. The room was spacious and clean with a king size bed and a large television along with a sofa. The bed had a large frame that almost to the ceiling (I'd guess to hold curtains), but there wasn't anything on them. Seems rather pointless, only thing it accomplished was blocking a portion of the TV which for some reason was centered to the nightstand between the bed and the couch so there's no comfortable way to watch television/movies. We immediately went into our spa services. We started with the hydrotherapy circuit which was relaxing and rejuvenating, lots of varieties in temperature rooms that leave you with feeling refreshed. We were starving so we ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and Burrata. Both tasted amazing! Despite being on the more expensive side at $56 for both items, I would definitely order the Caesar salad again. After the circuit we had our couples massages which were great. The RMTs did an amazing job! Next, facials which were good. All around the spa itself was very nice. We decided to have dinner at one of the restaurants along the strip instead of the costly restaurants connected to the hotel. Upon returning we enjoyed some quiet time at our personal firepit which on site staff was helpful to light for us. We watched a movie uncomfortably from our bed and went to sleep. Was woken up by the sound of lots of walking above and beside us. With the size of room we had it'd be nice to have some thicker walls for a more peaceful rest. Our package included a complimentary breakfast at Treadwell Cuisine. I was told to simply notify the hostess of the restaurant that we had the package and they would take care of the rest. We both ordered the chefs breakfast which is your standard egg, bacon, potatoes, and toast. My partner also ordered a tea. Our server was distant and unhelpful. Eggs were overcooked, bacon too crispy, basically burnt, very few potatoes. Then we get a bill for 2 orders of "Chefs breakfast". So only the tea was complimentary. A location like this was supposed to be a getaway from my partner and my busy lifestyle and instead we just wanted to go home. Overall, spa was a memorable experience that I'd recommend to anyone, just don't book a stay at the hotel. Service was below average, Treadwell cuisine was sad. Genuinely surprised with the rating of this place considering the experience we had. If you want a below average experience for a overpriced cost this is the place to be, we were there less than 24hrs and payed almost 2 grand. Will...
Read moreThe room that I was assigned does not appear on the their website. While it was huge, clean and the bed was comfortable, I felt like I was in a dungeon. Only the the top 1/3 of the one window had light exposure. I could see the treetop and the sky. The bottom 2/3 was frosted so dark that no light could shine through. The window did overlook the street so I thought maybe it was for privacy. When I opened the window I was met with the HVAC unit and a pond of water. Therefore, opening the window was not an option. My room was also directly above an event space. I did notice that there was an event taking place at 4pm but people were eating dinner so I assumed that it would be over in a few hours. At 9:30pm the music was so loud that the bed was shaking. The hotel asked that guests text them if they needed anything. I texted my concern as to when this event would be over and got no response. I tried to call and no answer. I finally walked about a half a block over to the reception area. When I asked about the situation I asked if anyone had called me prior to my arrival. Nobody had called me. They were very nonchalant about the situation. Someone would text me with the ending time of the event. About 20 minutes later I was told that the event would be over at 10pm. At 10:15pm the music stopped but then the furniture moving began. For another hour all I could hear was the staff breaking down the event. The next morning I went to reception and found that everyone in the Gate House was in there complaining. Their solution was to refund our resort fee and make a note to give me an upgrade the next time I stayed with them. I felt like I was over a barrel with no options. I asked several times why they would even book that room if they had an event. They never gave me a response. Something about, because I booked with Expedia, they did not know about my reservation until just a few days before. I booked the reservation through their website 3 months prior. It just seemed like they really did not care that any of us were unhappy and they had no solution. I felt like I had been taken advantage of. I will never go back to this place. I have been traveling for years and have never been treated so poorly. There is no section on their website to leave a review. ...
Read moreMy husband and I, as well as some of our wedding guests, stayed here during our wedding week a little over two weeks ago. Our 6 nights went by far too fast. We would like to take a moment to thank Amber-Lee and Larissa for all they did to make our experience the best it could be during this special time. They were highly professional, responsive, and kind. Our stay was absolutely amazing and many guests commented on how nice it was to have a modern, fresh hotel in Old Town. It is in a prime location which was so convenient for all.
We stayed in a Wellness Suite on the ground floor. The room was incredibly spacious, clean, and the patio with a firepit in the Zen Garden was beautiful. The washroom had a rain shower, double vanity, and plenty of room for us to get ready for our events. We really enjoyed the spa slippers and bathrobes which enhanced the “relaxation” environment in the room. There was also a salt lamp, yoga mat, and essential oil diffuser.
We had our welcome dinner in the restaurant (NOTL Bar and Restaurant) and a lunch at Tredwells. Both are priced quite high, but the quality was good and it was a lovely setting to kick things off. A nice touch was the free Hors d'oeuvres for guests at there between 4-6pm every day which we took advantage of when we checked in.
The spa is equally as beautiful and we are very excited to get the opportunity to experience it next time.
If I were to mention some areas of improvement, it would be the lack of in room service options such as in-room dining, and some of the front desk staff can be a little slow responding to requests or issues. When paying premium prices, these services would only enhance the stay for guests paying for that luxury experience. We would have loved breakfast in bed the morning after our wedding.
Overall, my husband and I will be back here next year to celebrate our anniversary.
Thank you to 124 on Queen for making our week...
