One of the expensive restaurants I visited in this summer. Even expensive than khana khazana by sanjeev kapoor on dundas toronto. Because you can see the price yourself in the bill.
The ambience of the resturant is very good. Once you enter the resturant you feel rich and expensive for sure. Washroom are on the main floor and are clean and neat.
You also get a patio place to sit and enjoy your food or drink.
The tables are small for people of 4 and even people of 2. I think to increase the capacity of sitting small tables were used so if you increase the size they may lose at least 8 to 12 people of capacity. However I felt too compact to have my food. Very minimal space to place your hands on table and be comfortable.
As you can see in my bill I ordered starters on the suggestion of chef who is owner himself and Dee who was the server as I was bit confused how it may taste so it was really nice and good. Just be careful when you eat it as it's super hot inside and can burn your mouth. Then main course, I am not a fan of lot of spices, as they mentioned that they make their own spices and grind them with hand it's something unique and certainly time consuming. But there was hint of spices in paneer tikka masala but it was still fine and nice but it's not like every paneer tikka masala taste if you are used to other restaurants and you like their taste then it may disappoint you but you should certainly give it a shot, there is a possibility that you may find raw spice in it. Dal Tadaka was ok as it was more of a moongdal than toor dal, if you are not fan of moong dal then you will not like it as it's not smashed but cooked as whole and is prominent in taste.
Garlic naan and tandoori roti were best and are really good one of the best I tasted and stayed soft till end.
Fried cheese cake, the cake is dipped or applied in egg white and covered with corn flakes. I am not a fan of fried food so I just liked the cake and not the coating much but I will suggest you to eat and try. It will be best with alchohol around but if you are not drinking then it depends on each individual's taste so do try if you want to.
The restaurant is really nice and both the owners anjana and nitin are really great , generous and kind enough to suggest and serve. But the menu is very expensive. I know you get complimentary rice bowl with vegetarian main course orders. Bit I dont eat rice much and once you eat ample of bread then it becomes difficult to eat rice. So keep in mind main course comes with rice so order breads accordingly or else it will be too much if you are a less eater. So the price is bit much than whatever you will expect. You dont get a custom tip option on the machine it's set on 15%, 18% and 20%. Well correct me if I am wrong as I was unable to see any option where I can punch in my own $amount for tips.
This indian resturant is pretty new just year and half new and is located on Niagara on the lake. In the heart of the town near prince of whales hotel. Serves mostly locals and canadians in the neighborhood which is mostly white community. So the people who stay there are wealthy and for them it is going to be a treat to have an indian resturant and can enjoy local Indian rather than driving around 20 to 30min to go nearby indian resturant. But as an Indian I dont think its affordable as we always make these stuff at home and just for a change its not that cost efficient.
I will certainly suggest this resturant to all, give it a try but keep a track of your budget as I have posted menu, so calculate and see if it suits your pocket , I dont drink that's why I dont know the...
Read moreExtremely rude waitress, unhygenic food and unprofessional service, a kitchen nightmare experience!
We visited this place on the way back from Niagara, Family of 9 were hungry and tired, upon stepping in the waitress denied us entry and asked us to wait 20 min while she preps the table, although the restaurant was empty the waitress made us stand on the pavement for 20 min, despite telling her that we were not expecting to be served but just to sit at an empty table, while they prepare our table, she didn't allow!
Then came the food 35 min after order, waitress had no clue of the portion size, nor advised us we might be short on gravy in proportion to the Naan, we ordered 8 Naan and 2 gravies and rightly so we had excess Naan and little gravy (a gravy costs $30 and doesnt serve 2 ppl), realizung we need more we reordered and waited patiently,
the waiter walks out with food in her hand, stops halfway and starts talking to her coworker! for about 5min..! only to be reminded by her manager to serve the food first.. bynow it has take 25 min further to receive our 2nd order of gravy, and to our surprise served with a "human hair" in it!! disguested we raised the issue to the manager (who seemed to be the only sensible person around) the manager agreed to replace the dish with a new one, as we waited with our Naan cold and spoons dry, I requested the waitress if she could check in the kitchen and expedite our order? To wich she denied and said all food take 30 min to prep and she will not go in or check on the preparation status, even for courtesy she didn't oblige and told us to our face to just wait and nothing can be done! (Remind you, We didnt have to wait nor ask had they served hygienic food in the first place)
Anyways, Now adding 25 min further with dish still being prepared (50 min overall to have one gravy preped and served right).
We have had enough of the hospitality and waiting as we needed to reach Toronto ,we canceled the replacement, left the food as is on the table and requested for a bill, ironically... they charge 18% as service fees! For making customers stand outside an empty open restaurant, for serving human hair in the food and making people wait over 2hrs intermediatly to finish a simple meal we paid $180!! For Possibly the worst experience ever. Btw, All this with the...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Aura on the Lake My recent visit to Aura on the Lake left me with mixed feelings, and unfortunately, they weren't the positive ones I had hoped for. Our party of four ordered Lamb Vindaloo, Kadhai Paneer, Dahi Puri, Papri and Naan, expecting a delightful dining experience. However, what we received was far from what we anticipated. The first issue we encountered was the unexpected level of spiciness in our dishes. Nowhere on the menu was it indicated that these dishes were exceptionally spicy, and our server failed to mention it when we placed our order. This lack of communication was a letdown from the start. When we brought up our concern about the spiciness, we were met with indifference from the staff. We were told that nothing could be done since the spice was already mixed into the dishes, and the only solution offered was a small cup of yogurt to mitigate the heat. This response was not only disappointing but also far from the customer service standard one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The service, in general, was ordinary and didn't make up for the lackluster dining experience. Additionally, the prices of the dishes seemed quite high for what we received in terms of quality and portion size. We ended up leaving a 15% tip as a courtesy, but it was far from a gratifying experience. On a separate note, I noticed the business owner's responses to patron reviews, and they left a lot to be desired. Their replies appeared disrespectful and somewhat self-sabotaging, which doesn't reflect well on the restaurant's image. I sincerely hope they consider adopting a more positive and professional approach when addressing customer feedback in the future. In conclusion, my visit to Aura on the Lake was marred by unanticipated spiciness, lackluster service, and high prices. I won't be returning anytime soon, and I hope that the restaurant takes every feedback constructively to improve their offerings and...
