The Monument Samuel-De Champlain is a striking tribute located in the heart of Quebec City, commemorating one of the most significant figures in Canadian history. This impressive statue, standing proudly on the cliffs of Cap Diamant, captures the spirit of exploration and the founding of Quebec. From a distance, the monument is a captivating sight, with its intricate details and commanding presence. As you approach, you’ll notice the statue of Samuel de Champlain himself, elegantly posed, looking out over the St. Lawrence River. The surrounding park provides a serene atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to pause and reflect on the history it represents. The views from the monument are breathtaking. Overlooking the river and the bustling city, it’s an ideal vantage point to appreciate Quebec City’s picturesque landscape. The area is well-maintained, with pathways and benches that invite visitors to linger and soak in the surroundings. For history buffs, the plaques detailing Champlain’s life and contributions add a layer of depth to the visit. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the man who played a crucial role in establishing New France. One aspect to keep in mind is that the site can get crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons, so visiting early in the day or later in the evening can enhance your experience. Overall, Monument Samuel-De Champlain is a must-see for anyone in Quebec City. It beautifully merges history, art, and stunning views, making it a memorable stop on your journey through this historic city. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, taking a moment to appreciate this monument is well worth your time.

The Champlain Monument on Dufferin Terrace pays tribute to the man who founded the city in 1608. It is one of the city's most spectacular landmarks, both because of its imposing size and its central location at a lively gathering place where locals and tourists come to watch street entertainers perform. Samuel de Champlain (1567–1635) was an explorer, geographer, and mapmaker who founded Québec City in 1608. In 1613, he explored the Ottawa River. he was called the ‘Father of New France,’ Champlain was an explorer who founded Quebec City in July 1608, made the first accurate map of the area, and worked to find the first settlements. Visitors to the monument can enjoy splendid views of the St. Lawrence River, the Lower Town, Île d'Orléans, the south shore, and the Laurentian Mountain range! This statue commemorates the 300th anniversary of Champlain’s second voyage on the Ottawa River. It was erected at the same spot where Champlain made his solar observation during his expedition in 1615.

As we walked around Le Chateau Frontenac, we came across this amazing sculpture of the founder of Quebec - Samuel de Champlain. Behind the sculpture, one can get an amazing view of the Vieux-Quebec. If you are coming here in the evening hours, there may also be some amazing street performance right at the foot of the statue. We caught a glimpse of Monsieur Rene, great entertainer, while we were there. There is also a schedule mentioned nearby of the artists who are going to perform and their timings. Great place to take beautiful pictures of the hotel, statue and...
