The museum offers an excellent insight into changes to colonial life during the French and British occupations, and later commercial and social life in the lower Old City. The best finds from an archaeological excavation, situated on the same site of the museum, reveal the good and bad, especially the hardships of earlier colonial times and a later brewery tradition. Many items are on display, with good explanations in French and English captions. From these, an interesting insight into social life is explained, down to recent decades.
