Dufferin Grove Organic Farmer's Market — Attraction in Toronto

I stopped by the Dufferin Grove Park farmer's market on my way home from work. There I bought some Monforte Dairy cheeses - curds, cream cheese, and a triangle of soft cheese with tarragon. I put the cheese in my fridge as soon as I got home, within 30 minutes of purchase. By the very next day the soft cheese with tarragon had a strong pungent odour. Two days after purchase, it was inedible and I had to get rid of it. The cheese lady had her products in coolers, in the full sun, but there did not appear to be any ice in the coolers. It was hot and sunny outside. I suspect that the soft cheese was probably already starting to spoil when I bought it. It was wrapped in clear plastic wrap. There was no label, so no "best before" date. I don't want to buy something that will spoil so quickly - it's a waste of time and money and effort. Very disappointed. The venders are set up behind the building on the skating Rink East side until end of November for this year. The merchandise sold was fresh and the prices reasonable. The fish from Nunavut is incredible. You won't regret buying it. They also have a variety of fresh food done in front of you. I love it as I feel I'm traveling to the country the food represents. It's that good. You will have to park across the street at Dufferin Mall as you will get a parking ticket. Oh yes there's a vender that sells baked goods. The guy selling fresh eggs and frozen chicken is too expensive, therefore I buy mine from a guy that sells his at the ANNETTE MARKET...

I love how this market stayed strong throughout the pandemic. I didn't have the chance to interact with the farmers directly, but appreciated (in a way truly unlike before) access to fresh, quality foods - both familiar and new ones. Anne's e-write-ups are always authentic and enjoyable, and Nicole has been a breath of fresh air every time I'd go there with my kids. Thanks for always making us feel welcome, Dufferin Grove team.
