It is sort of affordable grocery store, a less glamorous version of Metro. Since No Frills across the train tracks closed it is the only large store in the area but even before it would get crowded with long line ups for cashiers. A few years ago.most of the cashiers were replaced with self check out which really sucks. The self check out terminals tend to be defective - sometimes you get logged out even before you start scanning and assistant has to come to unlock the terminal. I feel for those assistants - they put up with a lot of attitude as shoppers get pissed at the faulty machines. I might have eye-rolled one of those assistants today - sorry. Another fun part is that the management sometimes plays hide and seek with customers: try to find a shopping basket! It seems that there are only 10 in the entire store and you have to chase one before you can start shopping (the best strategy is to wait like a hawk by cashiers until somebody with a basket comes to cash out). On the other hand, shopping carts are everywhere, especially by the exit to the parking and in front of the store - it feels like an obstacle course. It would be great if they can hire more cashiers and somebody who could take care of the carts situation. Go in the morning if you can, especially on the weekends I wouldn't recommend shopping...
Read moreWas there earlier tonight (May 21st, at around 7:30PM). Used the self checkout Ona careful of groceries. The checkout machine kept showing the message "item removed, please wait for a clerk." I had to ask the clerk attending/watching the self checkout area maybe 3x to 4x to help me clear the message. By the 4th time that happened, the clerk looked at me very angrily and rolled their eyes on me before swiping their card and then proceeded to walk away. I also work in the Customer Service industry, but this is absolutely the worst possible CS I've ever experienced. Every staff member working there is getting paid to do their job - their job is to help customers and provide service. Maybe the clerk was having a bad day or was tired (the grocery store was busy during that time), but that's no excuse to treat your customers very poorly! To the clerk who was attending the self checkout: if you're having a bad day, perhaps you should talk to your manager and go elsewhere where you don't have to interact with other people. To the Manager, please open more cash registers/checkouts to help alleviate the long wait and to avoid self checkout error messages (and more importantly, so that your clerks do not give bad attitude towards...
Read moreI bought some yogurt this morning around 9 am or so, exp date said July 25 2025. It was Monday, June 23. Miserable face at the Auto Check out. Anyway, the yogurt looked stale after I opened it.So I went back with receipt. I spoke to the same girl with the miserable scowl and of course she looked baffled and pointed to the long line of people waiting at the check out. I told her that line was too long. Well! Then the older woman doing the checkout jumped in. She told me I was impatient and it would take one minute to check all those customers out, so the guy with the most in his cart told me I could cut in and get my refund. This cashier told me I was too impatient? No. This is not good customer service. I'm not battling with you about whether I'm being 'impatient' or whether you can really check out that long line in 'one minute'. Neither one was the issue. Thanks to the nice people with the full baskets in the long line, I really was able to get in and get my refund within..well not one minute but under 5. Learn customer service skills! One line. Many people. Full baskets. Stale Yoghurt. Monday Morning. And I'm...
