Worst Value Village ever. I know it’s new and there may be growing pains. But the store is a mess. Narrow aisles, overstocked racks where you can’t find anything. No parking. Not sure how you pull up to donate. Staff are doing their best (and some of the staff from the beloved Bloor street location that closed are there and are amazing). But something about the management there is really messed up. Unattractive layout and displays, constant incomprehensible, inaudible messages to staff over the PA, makes everything feel stressed, so staff look disgruntled and frustrated. It’s the worst layout and organization ever, through No fault of the hired staff. Honestly I LOVE Value Village, as a member, super fan, frequent shopper and donator. But this store is just depressing and dysfunctional. I usually browse contentedly in a VV for long stretches but I just wanted to leave this one asap. I had read other bad reviews about this location but I chose to ignore them. Yet I learned from visiting the store myself today that the bad reviews are sadly well-deserved. Do yourself a favour and skip this location altogether. Every other location in the GTA (or anywhere, actually, in any province) is so much better. As for whomever is managing this mess, get it together. Now. Organize, beautify and space out your displays better to help staff and customers move around with dignity. Treat your staff much much better. Take down the stress level and increase your own professionalism. Make the store feel like other VV, not like a disaster or a mistake as it does now. Honestly, the folks working there for you deserve better than the conditions you offer them. Customers are noticing the mood and mess. It is obvious. If you continue mismanaging this location, Your store will give VV a bad name…what a shame. VV is a good thing that serves the community (and the environment) in so many ways. You managers at this location need ...
Read moreToday, my shopping experience at the store has been a profound reminder that exceptional customer service can make all the difference, but unfortunately, one staff member, Samita, fell short of expectations. Her actions, following my sister and me throughout the store, made our shopping experience uncomfortable, despite the reassuring presence of a security guard. As frequent shoppers at this location, particularly during sales, we have always been impressed with the service, but Samita's behavior was a departure from the norm, making us feel uneasy as she appeared in every aisle we visited. However, when I started recording her with my camera, she disappeared, only to reappear and ignore my sister's request for assistance, pretending not to hear. This experience has made me question the quality of training she has received, as her behavior is not conducive to creating a welcoming shopping environment. In stark contrast, another staff member, who I believe is from Ethiopia, provided us with exceptional service, going above and beyond to ensure our shopping experience was nothing short of outstanding. Her helpfulness was a beacon of hope, and I was inspired to offer to buy her a coffee as a gesture of appreciation. Unfortunately, Samita's behavior has made me consider shopping at a different location, where I have consistently received outstanding service from staff, such as at the...
Read moreI recently visited this store and, unfortunately, was quite disappointed with the experience. First, the layout was extremely disorganized; aisles were often unclear and narrow, making it challenging to navigate, especially with a cart. I was also surprised to find the men's clothing and glassware section located in the basement – a very confusing choice, as it wasn’t clearly indicated and difficult to access.
Given the current AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) standards, I expected more consideration for accessibility in the store’s layout. The narrow aisles and lack of clear signage make it difficult for customers who need more space or who may require assistance.
Additionally, it seems the store has replaced cashiers with self-serve machines. While this may streamline the checkout process for some, I found it frustrating as there was minimal staff on hand to help when issues arose. When I did manage to find someone, the staff weren’t particularly friendly or willing to assist.
Overall, the store could benefit from some significant improvements to make shopping here a better experience for everyone. I noticed that the same snobby managers/supervisors from the Bloor/Lansdowne store have moved to...
