Korean-run Japanese food restaurant. I might have ordered the wing fish for this restaurant as most reviews for this place are about sushi and I ordered kitchen food as well as a deep fried sushi dish. I ordered the chicken katsu dish when I saw it on the menu as I was craving tonkatsu, but they didn't have that. The meat in the katsu was pretty thin, like they halfed chicken breast for this. The breadding was REALLY crunchy, like double fried. Not sure if that was the intention but that's what I got. Can't say I didn't like that crunchiness, just that it was unusual. The katsu is served covered in katsu sauce and mayonaise instead of sauces on the side. Again, my preference would have been sauce on the side. I thought to try a sushi roll and wanted to try something more signature. I ordered one that was a deep fried spicy tuna roll. My fault for not reading menu carefully as didn't enjoy the deep friedness of this dish. The included miso soup + spring roll appetizer and frozen grape finisher was a nice touch though. I liked that. There were two servers working. Seemed like a senior server training a junior server. Both were friendly and very attentive. Restaurant was quiet when I arrived (before dinner rush) but busy when I left. Parking is a small parking lot that shares with a Chinese restaurant and otherwise there's residential parking. Will come try again and maybe order just sushi.

Came back early this evening and it’s still as good. This place really lives up to my standards for my regular Japanese cravings. Sashimi is fresh and better than any Japanese restaurants in the city that serves at this price range. It’s not frozen, tuna is nice and pinkish not pale. From karaage, chicken terriyaki, the rice itself which a lot of the places can’t get it perfectly, tempuras, rolls, they are just fantastic. You know what, this place can’t be beat when quality and price for this variety is made into consideration. Since it’s close to my place, this is now one of my to gos for comfort food. *********************************************** Knew this place that was recommended by a friend and looks like I just found my new favorite spot specially for my rolls and sashimi cravings that fits within my budget! This place has one of the best bento boxes I’ve had for only $20. Try the sashimi bento box B, the chicken terrayaki was tender juicy and crispy The ambiance is relaxed, and the food is super fresh with huge servings—seriously filling! Yanaki’s got that perfect vibe: not too formal or fancy, but still top-notch quality. Everything that was ordered were great. Best deal in town for delicious food that doesn’t break the bank! Will definitely be back.

Went to a pet shop in the little strip mall next to YANAKI and notice this cute little sushi shop and decided to try it - good decision as the place was nice, food good and service prompt and friendly. The best part of the menu is their bento boxes - I chose bento A and it was perfect! Great Karage (crispy yet juicy), colourful paradise roll (which is akin to California roll), yummy chicken teriyaki and 6 thick fresh sashimi slabs - and it was so much food, I was stuffed. My daughter ordered a spider and a California rolls which were quite large (although not the large tasteless kind from Rezzies who thinks quantity is all that matters!) and very tasty. My better half also ordered Bento A but had the beef teriyaki. And to cap it all off - complimentary appetizers- nice touch! Very pleasantly surprised by this little place we just chanced upon and will be back - especially if we want to visit the pet supply shop next door again.
