Would give 5 except locals messing with the vibe. Call it colonization. Kinda like the city painting over the cultural mural. More overstepping on Lekwungen territory. The Salish Sea and the land provided for centuries : generations. Let’s continue the path of reconciliation #tworowwampum ƛaʔuukʷiʔatḥ 🪶♾️🌊🙌🏽🌳🪬🦅❤️‍🔥

Spiral Beach, located along the Dallas Road waterfront in Victoria, BC, is a local favourite known for its artistic flair and natural beauty. Parking is available on Dallas Rd but can fill up quickly during peak times, so arriving early is a good idea. Accessibility can be tricky as the descent to the beach is via steep, rocky steps, making it difficult for those with mobility issues. The beach is open year-round with no official operating hours, allowing visitors to enjoy it at any time of day.

What makes Spiral Beach unique is its vibrant and creative energy. It's known for the driftwood structures built by visitors and the colourful, painted rocks scattered along the shoreline. These artistic touches, combined with the rugged natural beauty of the coastline, create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Popular activities include beachcombing, watching the waves, and simply relaxing while enjoying the stunning ocean views. The beach has a rich cultural history and has long been a gathering spot for artists and free spirits, adding to its eclectic charm.

The scenery is incredible, with expansive views of the Juan de Fuca Strait, the distant Olympic Mountains, and the rocky coastline. Wildlife is abundant, and you may spot seabirds, seals, or even whales in the distance. The best time to visit is in the late afternoon when the sunlight enhances the colours of the ocean and sky, making it a magical place to unwind.

Due to the rocky shoreline and uneven paths, sturdy shoes are recommended, and dressing in layers is a good idea since the coastal winds can make it cooler, even on warm days. The views are stunning in all directions, with the open ocean to one side and the rolling hills of Dallas Road to the other. With its mix of natural beauty and artistic creativity, Spiral Beach offers a peaceful and inspiring escape for those who appreciate...

Five stars if you are a dog lover. Dallas Road Park has 2 klms of "Off Leash" park on the top of the cliff and the beach is never closed to animals. Quite a steep long walk with stairs down to the beach but well worth it if your 'loved one' wants to swim and fetch a stick. Very popular place to watch wind surfers, sail borders and sea life. No sand to speak of, just smooth round rocks and lots of drift wood. People build makeshift huts out of the driftwood for the kids to play in but the best part is just watching the ocean and seeing real life...

I am happy that Google Reviews has provided a venue at last to criticise nature's work. The beach was adequately rocked and the water, although I didn't test it, seemed serviceably wet.

This being said, however, no thought was put into the placement of the beach with regards to the prevailing winds, and so I would recommend layering clothes or bringing a blanket. because of this glaring design flaw, I had a challenging evening on this "beach".

I am however giving four stars because I found a stone with a distinct areola on it, which cheered me up...
