Spent 2 nights at the 'Windsor Oak' room in July 2020.
Good place, would consider again if in the area - although we enjoyed the room and its decor as a whole, the main reason for booking in first place was its jacuzzi (if you're like us and are looking for a place with a jacuzzi but are unsure, then yes it's a great jacuzzi, so I hope this helps).
Different people like different things, but general compliments were: comfy bed, clean room, warm room and good at blocking out noise from outside (is a quiet area in general but still did a good job at blocking out rest fo nearby noises).
The jacuzzi is good but not spectacular has space for 2 (not extremely spacious but an 'economic' amount of space for 2 people, kind of cheap on space for the price you pay), a timer for convenience and great pressure, bubbles and temperature.
Things that were let downs are that: the breakfast was poor (even if you have a small appetite, you'll still be hungry afterwards and it mainly consisted of 2 slightly burned sausages - what is it with British Columbia and their mainly meat-based breakfasts?), so for the equivalent of 150 euro (225 CAD) per night, it was a poor effort in that regard and a clear cost-saving attempt. we booked for 2 nights and there's only 1-2 people working in the main part of the building (receptionist/house-cleaners) so it's easy to communicate each guests' booking arrangement among the team of workers (only 2 people), so why start hoovering outside our door at 8 in the morning when you know we are not checking out today (we don't go on a holiday to be awoken by that kind of stuff - seems like basic people/courtesy skills)
Overall, I would say it's worth trying if you've never had a bath-tub/jacuzzi room experience before, but not worth repeating at this location for the price-to-package return. For reference, we stayed at Marketa's B&B for 1 night directly after checking-out of Dashwood and it was an equally enjoyable stay with regards to the bathtub experience, with a far greater breakfast and no hoovering outside our...
Read moreMy husband and I celebrated our 11th Anniversary here on Sept 23 2021. We both enjoyed our sommerset room, which felt like a tropical vacation space. It was comfortable and relaxing and clean.
The room was bright, open, welcoming and had a little deck with a great view outside. Throughout the Manor, there are many antique, touches that have been displayed in the right way. There is a calming, bright and artistic flair to each of the rooms.
I loved the dining room colors of seacolor turqouise and brass gold. The sconces, which display the golden pinecones, as well as the artwork is cleaverly thought out. I appreciated all the stained glass windows and the bright cheery atmosphere while eating a breakfast.
The breakfast was tasty. First part was a lovely dish of whipped yogurt delight with a garnish of berries and an almond granola sprinkled on top. Due to allergies, they accomated me and provided it without almond granola. So yummy! We also had the whole grain toast with sunny side up eggs (and ketchup) and the best cooked bacon by the way. Our compliments to the chef, ie. Dashwood Manor Food Artist.
Each staff member has something special about them that really helps this place thrive. A warm smile and a good morning goes a long way. Will definitely be back, it has so much character and much relaxation. Its close to great walking trails, the spaghetti factory is like 30 min walk both ways too. Get that breath of fresh air by the beach, go to dinner, and walk back, and your set for a great rest.
There was only one thing we didnt like, and it was the rug in the bathroom and the room. The rough texture of the woven one in our room wasnt the nicest on our feet and the carpet is already so plush. Aside from that, the rest of our visit was well worth it. Thanks again Dashwood Manor for making it a lovely and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at the Dashwood for 8 days so far and we will be there for another 8 days while we have a renovation done on our home. We have loved every minute of our time at the B&B. Michelle and Ann have been beyond wonderful with caring for us. They meet every need and exceed every expectation in every department.
We've been lucky to stay in 2 beautiful rooms (the Dorset & The Chelsea), both tastefully decorated and wonderfully spacious. Both rooms are immaculately put together, clean and well taken care of. The bed, pillows, sheets and blankets have felt like clouds and we've slept so well each night.
Breakfast has been a dream. Coffee, tea and juice are always at the ready. Breakfast comes with a starter and a hot main dish. Each has been well thought out and presented deliciously. The starter is either Greek yogurt & fresh fruit with a muffin or a fresh house made smoothie. The mains are usually some kind of egg dish (eggs benny, frittata, omelette) that has been crafted with skill and seasoned to perfection. They always seem to be able to adjust the menu to each guests palate within moments, whether it's gluten free, vegetarian or pretty much anything else.
My boyfriend is gluten sensitive and they were well prepared for what he would need before he mentioned it. They have amazing gf baked goods and pastries (that most are made in house!). They've even gone as far as to make breakfast or snacks to go for us if we won't make the breakfast sitting.
I can't recommend the Dashwood Manor highly enough, between the staff, location, rooms and food it's going to be hard to leave. It really has felt like a warm and loving home while we've been...
