Returned recently. Came for a pre dinner, dinner. Fully loaded crispy potato skins 4.5 stars Nachos 4 stars Was impressed with how they layered all the chips. Enchilada 4 stars I only had a bite of this so it was hard to gauge . It was generally good. We did the mole beef. The Diablo 4.5 stars Tasty. Good marriage of flavors with fresh veggies bursting with liquid that it got pretty messy. Ice cream sandwich 5 stars My favorite item of the night. They gave us a sample and we ended up ordering a full one. Spritzing image (zero proof drink) 5 stars I modified it to have less ginger beer and more guave and found it fantastic. I like a hint of ginger beer but I find it over powers things. Initial review....... Stopped into the local public eatery for brunch today. The food: Avocado and eggs Benedict - loved the hollondaise sauce. The egg was presented beautifully, perched high on top of pico de Gallo and an English muffin that tasted better than most. I liked how they did the hashbrowns as well. It's formed into a pattie, but it had a nice crunch to moisture ratio. Braised beef and bacon hash - not normally a fan of hash, but enjoyed this a lot. The braised beef was done well. We also tried the wings which were average. Unless there was a good deal on them, I probably wouldn't re order it. They only came in one flavor. The service was good. I appreciated the manager coming by to check on our table. I had an issue with my drink, but the server corrected it with no hassle. Juice with soda was $4. Not on the menu but you can order it. It is located where the pint used to be. You can park on the street. There looks to be parking lots around where you need to pay. Keep in mind Garry is a one way street when driving there. I would like to come back and try more items to get a better sense of their food. Right now their brunch is pretty solid. If you find this review helpful please hit the like. Tia!

Now, this place, it's like a melting pot of cool cats. I'm talking artists, writers, musicians—basically, it's the United Nations of hipsters. You walk in, and you're hit with a wave of creativity that makes you question your life choices. The food, well, it's like a rollercoaster. The wings and burger, solid. Fries? Bit crispy, almost like they're auditioning for a potato chip commercial. But fear not, the beers are like the superheroes saving the day – strong and dependable.I'm giving LOCAL a solid 7.1 out of 10. It's the kind of place you go to for the atmosphere, not the Michelin-star experience. But now, let's talk about the real stars—the people.I met a painter with more colors on his palette than a Crayola factory. A writer crafting a novel like it's the next Game of Thrones, and a musician belting out tunes that could wake the dead. And then, ladies and gentlemen, I met the poet. Picture this: fedora, turtleneck, and a beard that makes Hemingway look like a prepubescent teen. This guy was straight out of a coffeehouse from the beatnik era.I chatted him up, and he spilled the beans – he's working on a poetry collection about the city. I'm thinking, "Alright, buddy, let's see what you got." He starts reciting, and I'm hit with emotions like I just watched Marley & Me. Beautiful, moving, and the city was practically blushing.I told him, "You're the Shakespeare of Winnipeg," and he blushed harder than a tomato in a sauna. He's just starting, but his passion could power a small country.Left LOCAL that night feeling like I stumbled upon the secret society of the passionately creative. So, if you find yourself in the land of maple syrup and apologies, hit up LOCAL Garry Street. Great food? Sure. Great drinks? You bet. But the real treat might just be meeting the next poetic genius in a fedora. Cheers, eh!

My partner and I came to check this place out on a whim yesterday and I'm glad we did! I really like the new bright white look compared to the previous dark and cluttered restaurant that was here before. We sat ourselves in a comfortable booth and were promptly greeted there. There are several TVs in various locations, with a large bar centred in the middle. All of the TV screens had a couple different hockey games on. I think it would have been nice to have other options on too. The menu selections looked great, including brunch options. Our side plates had oil splatters on them, like they were stored near a deep fryer or something. We just wiped them off with napkins. We shared the local fried chicken appetizer, and I had the Mexican fish tacos. The chicken was good, but the provided hot sauce on the table made it sooo much tastier! It also wasn't very spicy but I was okay with that, my partner said he would have liked more spice heat. The fish tacos surprised me. They tend to be kind of bland at other places, and I thought these might be as well because of all of the unseasoned cabbage and pico de gallo that was on it. However, they were actually quite tasty! I suspect due to the sauce hidden under the vegetables. My partner said his burger was simple but good, and we both really liked the fries! Shoestring style, crispy and perfect amount of salt. For drinks, juice was a bit expensive for a small glass. For cider, they sadly don't have any on tap, just one brand in can. But, it was a great dry cider that was perfect with my meal. Our server was nice and prompt. We'll definitely be back to try other things! Good job!

Went for fried chicken fest. 🍗 The server was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I told her I'm undecided between two drinks and asked her about both and she helped me decide which one to get! When it came to food, we ordered the fried chicken fest special. Honestly, for the fest, it's nothing special but still yummy and good quality. But really, It was just a fried chicken sandwich but I guess with melted cheese. I wish food event specials were more creative. I like it but not my winner for the fest (sorry). Anyway, I'm not a fan of pickles or pickled peppers and asked for no pickles. That's definitely MY oops because pickles are very different from pickled peppers. When it came with the pickled peppers, I notified them and they quickly replaced it even with the yam fries sided and the server kindly gave me the other drink I didn't get initially for free to apologize. Definitely not necessary but their customer service is beyond great!! I think it'd be a great place to go for drinks with friends after work. Lots of larger tables for groups. Will keep this place in mind for that. ✌️

If you were to ask me that you need to be comforted, I will probably take you here. PS: GET YOUR BRUNCH HERE GUYS. This place's previous home was a great watering hole spot and the LOCAL group has just uplifted it. Its the place it is located that feels like its our own. Its a good vibe and its a good service. One thing that Winnipeg is sleeping on is BRUNCH at the local, their mimosa and beermosa and brunch drinks are yummy and their food is amazing. Just such a good good quality food and their service matches the food. We loved our brunch here also because we were the only ones there at the time(mostly because people didnt know about their brunch or they were drinking the night before there and didnt make it) it was calming for us to not be in between too many people but also a bit sad because everyone is just sleeping on them. You can tell their recipes and preparation is national quality and made well. i have been here for many a times and if you order the right things for the time you will be delighted with your experience. Be a local.

Same vibe as the previous bar in that location, there's food and drinks available. Our server is pretty nice and friendly I forgot her name but she worked before at Disney and then the other one who gave our food is grumpy. Mexican fish tacos are good except the pico de gallo was dried out which I don't mind. Yam fries is actually terrible super salty, our server was extremely nice and insisted to change it for us but still the replacement was salty. We ordered the local fried chicken since it sound promising but I was disappointed. It was very salty. I expected so much with the chicken since it looks good and I love chicken but they seasoned the chicken very well that you can definitely see the seasoning by the breading. All in all, it's my first time trying a new place and I complained with my first two bites. They offer variety of drinks which I recommend to go there for. For food make sure to ask them for less seasoning or have a drink with it because maybe I didn't drink liquor that's why I really noticed how salty it is.
