Returned recently. Came for a pre dinner, dinner.
Fully loaded crispy potato skins 4.5 stars
Nachos 4 stars Was impressed with how they layered all the chips.
Enchilada 4 stars I only had a bite of this so it was hard to gauge . It was generally good. We did the mole beef.
The Diablo 4.5 stars Tasty. Good marriage of flavors with fresh veggies bursting with liquid that it got pretty messy.
Ice cream sandwich 5 stars My favorite item of the night. They gave us a sample and we ended up ordering a full one.
Spritzing image (zero proof drink) 5 stars I modified it to have less ginger beer and more guave and found it fantastic. I like a hint of ginger beer but I find it over powers things.
Initial review....... Stopped into the local public eatery for brunch today.
The food: Avocado and eggs Benedict - loved the hollondaise sauce. The egg was presented beautifully, perched high on top of pico de Gallo and an English muffin that tasted better than most. I liked how they did the hashbrowns as well. It's formed into a pattie, but it had a nice crunch to moisture ratio. Braised beef and bacon hash - not normally a fan of hash, but enjoyed this a lot. The braised beef was done well.
We also tried the wings which were average. Unless there was a good deal on them, I probably wouldn't re order it. They only came in one flavor.
The service was good. I appreciated the manager coming by to check on our table. I had an issue with my drink, but the server corrected it with no hassle. Juice with soda was $4. Not on the menu but you can order it.
It is located where the pint used to be. You can park on the street. There looks to be parking lots around where you need to pay. Keep in mind Garry is a one way street when driving there. I would like to come back and try more items to get a better sense of their food. Right now their brunch is pretty solid.

Read moreNow, this place, it's like a melting pot of cool cats. I'm talking artists, writers, musicians—basically, it's the United Nations of hipsters. You walk in, and you're hit with a wave of creativity that makes you question your life choices. The food, well, it's like a rollercoaster. The wings and burger, solid. Fries? Bit crispy, almost like they're auditioning for a potato chip commercial. But fear not, the beers are like the superheroes saving the day – strong and dependable.I'm giving LOCAL a solid 7.1 out of 10. It's the kind of place you go to for the atmosphere, not the Michelin-star experience. But now, let's talk about the real stars—the people.I met a painter with more colors on his palette than a Crayola factory. A writer crafting a novel like it's the next Game of Thrones, and a musician belting out tunes that could wake the dead. And then, ladies and gentlemen, I met the poet. Picture this: fedora, turtleneck, and a beard that makes Hemingway look like a prepubescent teen. This guy was straight out of a coffeehouse from the beatnik era.I chatted him up, and he spilled the beans – he's working on a poetry collection about the city. I'm thinking, "Alright, buddy, let's see what you got." He starts reciting, and I'm hit with emotions like I just watched Marley & Me. Beautiful, moving, and the city was practically blushing.I told him, "You're the Shakespeare of Winnipeg," and he blushed harder than a tomato in a sauna. He's just starting, but his passion could power a small country.Left LOCAL that night feeling like I stumbled upon the secret society of the passionately creative. So, if you find yourself in the land of maple syrup and apologies, hit up LOCAL Garry Street. Great food? Sure. Great drinks? You bet. But the real treat might just be meeting the next poetic genius in a...
Read moreMy partner and I came to check this place out on a whim yesterday and I'm glad we did! I really like the new bright white look compared to the previous dark and cluttered restaurant that was here before. We sat ourselves in a comfortable booth and were promptly greeted there. There are several TVs in various locations, with a large bar centred in the middle. All of the TV screens had a couple different hockey games on. I think it would have been nice to have other options on too. The menu selections looked great, including brunch options. Our side plates had oil splatters on them, like they were stored near a deep fryer or something. We just wiped them off with napkins. We shared the local fried chicken appetizer, and I had the Mexican fish tacos. The chicken was good, but the provided hot sauce on the table made it sooo much tastier! It also wasn't very spicy but I was okay with that, my partner said he would have liked more spice heat. The fish tacos surprised me. They tend to be kind of bland at other places, and I thought these might be as well because of all of the unseasoned cabbage and pico de gallo that was on it. However, they were actually quite tasty! I suspect due to the sauce hidden under the vegetables. My partner said his burger was simple but good, and we both really liked the fries! Shoestring style, crispy and perfect amount of salt. For drinks, juice was a bit expensive for a small glass. For cider, they sadly don't have any on tap, just one brand in can. But, it was a great dry cider that was perfect with my meal. Our server was nice and prompt. We'll definitely be back to try other...
