Hollywood Road Park — Attraction in Hong Kong

Hollywood Road Park is a nice urban park along Hollywood Road. Here you will find traditional Chinese archway entrance, moon gates, pavilions as well as a nice koi pond and tall banyan trees providing shade in much of the park. Structures are painted white and red with green trim and are of nice appearance. Set amongst the trees, it is a tranquil and peaceful place for a rest in Sheung Wan.

You'll find pebble paths, light exercise equipment and plenty of seating areas. During the holidays, like most parks and gardens in the city, there will be decorations put up to help enhance the holiday spirit.

Of historical interest, prior to being called Hollywood Road Park, this area was known as Possession Point, being the location the Royal Fleet first arrived in 1841, prior to formally taking over possession of Hong Kong from China as part of the Nanking...

The park was surrounded by buildings and was not large. An artificial pond was built inside where tortoises and koi carp were raised. Ancient Chinese style design was the main theme. There was an old tree planted in a corner. Some elderly people and patients from the hospital nearby visited here daily. There were facilities for the aged visitors to do exercise. Toilets were built on one side, but the staff doing the cleaning...

Such a lovely serene urban natural oasis in the middle of a busy central business/residential neighbourhood! I was pleasantly surprised to find so many turtles and koi fish at the ponds - definitely the most number of turtles and koi fish I’ve seen in my entire life. The park was busy with a group of women practicing dancing, families with kids having kid’s birthday party, couples on dates and people relaxing...
