My friend knew that I am a huge fan of French food, so she took me to a very nice restaurant in Sheung Wan called Nissa la Bella. Nissa la Bella, which means ‘Nice the Beautiful,’ is the unofficial anthem of the city of Nice in France. What a beautiful name!
We chose their Tasting Menu 😍.
Surprisingly delicious. We have:
✨Pissaladière✨
Focaccia is soft and full of the aroma of olive oil. Topped with sweet and crunchy caramelized onions, salty anchovies with the unique aroma from the black olives, this formed perfectly matched tastes of sweet and umami. Filled with the unique flavor from the southern French.
✨Crunchy green beans salad✨
The light stir-fried green beans and mushroom slices brought up a refreshing and crispy taste. Dipped into the sweet and sour vinegar sauce even enhanced its freshness.
✨Escargots rôtis au beurre✨
Garlic butter snails
Escargots are protein rich. With a chewy and solid texture, together with the rich fragrant garlic and cream as perfect partners, this dish is nutritious and delicious😋.
✨Aioli de Poissons✨
The monkfish has a firm texture and a light taste. The slightly spicy favor of the garlic mayonnaise and the freshness of pear together formed a distinct, perfect, and balanced combinations with the monkfish.
✨French cheese selection✨
There are three varieties of French cheese on the plate. They are comte, goat and sheep cheese, with the unique flavor from light to strong progressively. The texture is from soft to semi-hard. Each has its own unique characteristic, and no one cheese can steal the spotlight from the others 👍🏻. With the cheese there are also some dried fruits and nuts so you could refresh your taste buds during your enjoyment of the various kinds of cheese.
✨Profiteroles✨
Here comes the mouth-watering dessert. My favorite! A crispy puff filled with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and covered by a rich chocolate sauce. This dessert is scrumptious and completes the dinner with full satisfaction! 😋

Nissa la Bella got this classy bistro feel that’s perfect for a chill meal with friends, a special date, or even just treating yourself to some good food. The vibe is warm and inviting, but with just the right touch of elegance to make it feel like an occasion.
Salade de Poulpe this octopus salad was on point. The octopus was super tender (none of that chewy stuff), and the mix of olives, coriander, onions, and cherry tomatoes gave it this nice balance of salty, fresh, and tangy flavors. The lemon dressing brought it all together—it was light, refreshing, and honestly, a great way to kick things off.
Ceviche de Pêche du Jour This was one of the highlights for me. The ceviche had this bright limey zing, a little kick from the espelette pepper, and the chimichurri sauce added a nice herby vibe. But the real surprise? Popcorn. I didn’t think it would work, but it added this fun crunch to the dish. It’s bold, spicy, and refreshing—definitely not your average ceviche.
Braised Lamb Shank Comfort food at its finest. The lamb shank was ridiculously tender, like, fall-off-the-bone tender, and the sauce was rich and flavorful without being too heavy. They served it with seasonal veggies that were perfectly cooked—soft but still with a bit of bite. This dish felt like a warm hug on a plate, and I could’ve happily eaten it all night.
Tarte d’Abricot, Sorbet Pistache Let me just say, this dessert was chef’s kiss. The apricot tart had a buttery, flaky crust, and the almond cream inside was sweet but not overpowering. The apricot jam and fresh apricots gave it this tartness that balanced everything out beautifully. And that pistachio sorbet? Smooth, nutty, and refreshing—such a perfect way to...
