Review: A Disappointing Experience at Ramada Harbour View
Our stay at Ramada Harbour View was one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve had, and I feel it’s necessary to share our ordeal to caution potential guests. For a hotel claiming to be 4-star, the service, amenities, and professionalism were far below expectations.
Rude Behavior at the Breakfast Buffet The staff's behavior was shockingly unprofessional. One of the servers snatched a plate right from our hands during the breakfast buffet, which was humiliating and completely unacceptable.
Violation of Privacy Despite putting up the "Do Not Disturb" sign and double-locking our door, a room cleaner entered our room uninvited. This breach of privacy was not only alarming but also deeply unsettling.
Rude Reception Staff The receptionist was exceptionally rude when we politely inquired about the delay in room allotment. Instead of addressing our concerns, we were met with unnecessary hostility and dismissiveness.
Delayed Room Allotment Out of the three rooms, One room was allotted after the promised time which was delayed by 1 hour and 30 minutes. This caused significant inconvenience, particularly as we had plans to rest and freshen up.
Language Barrier In a 4-star hotel, it’s surprising and disappointing that no staff members spoke English and transferred the calls twice and thrice when asked for help to one who knew little but still couldn't understand it. This made communication unnecessarily complicated and added to the frustration.
Chaos at the Buffet The servers at the buffet were poorly informed about arrangements. Despite having prepaid for our family’s breakfast buffet, we were repeatedly asked to pay extra, leading to confusion and embarrassment.
Small and Uncomfortable Rooms The room size and washroom size were extremely small and compact, making them uncomfortable for taller or wider guests, and entirely unsuitable for those planning a long stay. The lack of space severely impacted our comfort throughout the visit.
**Limited Food Options For a hotel that claims to be 4-star, the food options provided were shockingly inadequate and monotonous. We did not expect to be served the same dishes every day with no changes or variety. The options for vegetarians were especially disappointing, limited to fried vermicelli, fried rice, stir-fried veggies, and steamed buns. This repetitive and uninspired menu was far below the standards of a 4-star property.
To make matters worse, on our last day, even basic items like cornflakes were missing from the buffet. When we asked about it, the server responded with an angry face before bringing a small bowl. Afterward, even foreign tourists started asking us where we got it from, highlighting the lack of organization.
Basic staples like bread and butter were available, but there was no Nutella, marmalade, or other condiments that one would reasonably expect in a 4-star breakfast spread. We didn’t come here to enjoy a basic breakfast; we came expecting a lavish buffet experience that the hotel utterly failed to deliver.
For vegetarians, the situation was even worse. Being served fried vermicelli and rice every single day in cooked meals is unacceptable. Complaining was pointless, as the staff seemed dismissive and unwilling to address any concerns, even rudely asking us to stay quiet when we voiced our dissatisfaction.
For your reference, I am tagging the receptionist whose unprofessional and rude behavior significantly contributed to making our stay uncomfortable.
Overall, our experience at Ramada Harbour View was extremely disappointing. The lack of professionalism, courtesy, and even basic hospitality was appalling. For the prices charged, we expected much better. I strongly urge the management to address these issues and train their staff to meet the expectations of a 4-star property. Until then, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a pleasant or...
Read moreI stayed in Ramada HarbourView at early Feb 2022, 14 days quarantine time flied by, thanks to the hotel’s amazing service.
The hotel really provided amazing service and really got underrated here, really wanna speak up for the hotel, for all teams, every staff who work very hard.
I’ve re-read all those comments after the stay, some of them are true, and then i realized the hotel had constantly improving during these period, which really deserved a thumbs up.
Highlights - good side unbeatable seaview strong air conditioner steady hot shower water supply 3 meals a day, quite balance diet staff are nice, top level hospitality not small, space for yoga mat
bad side toilet bowl position unnecessary bath tub only one shallow sink carpet cleanliness bed sheet cleanliness
Service: 5 stars every team give their best, given that i was paying ~600hkd /night, what i get is definitely worth. i once called for 1 more toilet roll, they gave me a few more, plus some boxes of facial tissue. and there one time i called for special dietary request, they even call back few hours later to follow up. friends send over stuff to me, and it deliver to me right away, never over 10mins. its about their passion, the care about guests, also the attention to details that worth the 5 stars.
Room status: 3.5 stars lucky to be arranged a higher floor, amazing sea view, with big window, i dont feel like staying in shoe box. window can be open a little to get some fresh air from the world outside. decent room size in HK standard, given 600hkd per night, room to put yoga mat. only thing is the hotel is not new, damages here and there, but really very mile. the hotel is trying hard to maintain it in its best form.
*bit hesitated of the patterned carpet, i just avoid stepping on it bare foot. *spots on the white bed sheet, i found them covering with correction pen, this is why points deducted here too.
Food: 4.5 stars 3 meals a day, very on time every day, i am mostly happy with what they offer, and i never order any delivery. i am very concern about what to put into my stomach, and keeping a healthier eating style. their meals contains carbs, protein, and fiber, that’s what i need. yea they repeat sometimes, and yea the protein are mostly chicken, and yea sometimes the meat are over cooked, spaghetti are not al dente, but for me, that’s what 600HKD offered. you wont expected 3 star michelin Forum restaurant food from their meal box right. 0.5 pt down as there’s too much carbs that so fulfilling, i wont to have less, but they cant change as meal box are pre-prepared. but they have veggie i mean choices for whom they have religious / health request.
*just remember one more thing, i guess this happens only on winter, coz their air conditioner is too strong, and the weather is cold and humid, only one blanket isnt enough thru the night, i ask for extra quilt or bedding, they said they will just gave me “old” one, i guess they mean not brand new, as the brand new one cost 100HKD. interesting.
anyway, overall a very very nice 14 days...
Read moreI stayed at the Ramada Hong Kong Harbour View from 17th to 19th October 2025 and found the experience profoundly disappointing. The hotel’s branding is misleading: it is neither located on the harbour nor does it offer a genuine “harbour view.” The property sits approximately 400–500 meters inland, requiring a 5–10-minute walk to reach the waterfront. From my room on the 30th floor—booked at a premium for a “sea view”—the harbour was only partially visible, obstructed by surrounding buildings. (Please refer to attached photos.)
The room was shockingly small, bordering on claustrophobic. The booking confirmation stated the room was 15 square meters, but I personally measured it using the iPhone measurement tool: 2.6m x 2.6m, totalling just under 7 square meters for the main area. Add to that a miniature toilet and a 2.5ft x 3ft shower cubicle, and the total usable space still falls well short of the advertised 15 sqm. This discrepancy is not minor—it’s a clear case of misrepresentation, and I have photographic evidence to support this.
Upon raising the issue with the duty receptionist, I was told that all rooms across the hotel’s 36 floors are identically sized—a revelation that only deepened my dismay. The bathroom was the most cramped I’ve encountered in any international hotel brand. The wash basin was scarcely wider than my slippers, the toilet seat had broken rests, and there was no surface to place even a toothbrush glass.
The bed featured a hard spring mattress with a thin topper, and the springs audibly creaked and pressed through with every movement. Cleanliness was also subpar: the gold-painted wooden frame around the TV was coated in thick dust, clearly accumulated over months, if not years. One of the towels provided had visible holes in it—an unacceptable lapse in quality and hygiene for any hotel, let alone one carrying the Ramada name.
Additional concerns include:
False advertising of amenities: The hotel’s promotional materials suggest a level of comfort and luxury that is simply not delivered. The “rooftop pool” was inaccessible and appeared neglected.
Safety and hygiene lapses: The confined bathroom layout poses genuine safety risks, especially for elderly or mobility-impaired guests. Fixtures were worn, and basic hygiene standards were not met.
In short, this property falls far below the standard expected of a Ramada-branded hotel. If this were in the UK, I would seriously consider legal action for misrepresentation and failure to disclose material facts about room size, location, and amenities. This was not value for money. I do not recommend the Ramada Hong Kong...
