The Lung Shan Country Park is a 47 hectare area of protect the wooded and densely vegetated slopes on the northwest side of Victoria Peak. This is the smallest country park in Hong Kong and is bordered by the adjacent Pok Fu Lam Country Park to the south and and east. The Pok Fu Lam Country Park can be accessed by way of Hatton Road which climbs the wooded mountainous terrain from Hong Kong University to the Lugard Road Junction. There is a popular hike call The Morning Trail which walkers and hikers can use to transect the Lung Shan Country Park. You will see interesting heritage attractions along the way including the City of Victoria Boundary Stone (1903) as well as the early 20th century Pinewood Battery war relics which saw action during the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941. There are park benches and plenty of information panels and country park maps along the trail. There are public bathrooms and BBQ spots at both ends of the trail. Visitors should allow at least an hour walking up The Morning Trail through the Lung Fu Shan Country Park.

Besides the waterfront, Lung Fu Shan Country Park, established 18 December 1998, is another great place for a walk or run in Hong Kong’s Central and Western District. While Lung Fu Shan is the smallest country park in Hong Kong, it still stretches over 47 hectares (120 acres) and the main highlight is the former military installation of the British colonial forces Pinewood Battery - the highest coastal defence battery in Hong Kong sitting 307 metres (1,007 feet) above sea level looking out to the eastern waters. A nice hike starts at the Lung Fu Shan Environmental Education Centre up to Pinewood Battery that covers 1.66km and has some views down to the University of Hong Kong.

Access Lung Fu Shan Country Park via The Peak path. This is a long windy path that travels through a World War II anti-aircraft battery. When it was active, it was manned by The 17th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery of the 5th Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Hong Kong Singapore Royal Artillery. The path, steep and slippery at times, winds down towards Pok Fu Lam and / or Hong Kong University. There are no places to buy snacks along the way. It's a beautiful and easy walk down and very peaceful. The exit at Pok Fu Lam requires another ten minutes walk to find a busy main road with many bus stops. Plenty of taxis zip up and down too.

If you’re fun of mingling with nature full of tranquility and peace this is the place to be. Easily accessible through concrete path along Hatton Road, it’s a family oriented piece of history way back during World War 2 and earlier in the 1930s. There are remnants of the war that are still intact and even creepier at some point but a perfect place for picnic, field play or just to relax and enjoy the natural surrounding. From here you can also proceed to several places of interest like Victoria Peak Pavilion and other resting spaces scattered around the areas.

Very interesting hike with several paths depending on how brave you're feeling. We got lost and a monk guided us the scenic route (not on Google Maps). Really interesting learning about Hong Kong's military past with Pinewood Battery near the hike summit. Ascent can be quite steep off the main track and it goes without saying with any hike, please hydrate yourselves unless you want a hefty bill for emergency call outs. Beware of large snakes. Main trailhead starts next to Sinopec petrol station (walk up from Kennedy Town MTR)

This is hot spot for local people as it's close to the residences. This countryside is suitable for all ages & safe & is very popular. Visitors can go there by mini-van or buses. It starts from the middle of the mountain & walk along with the footpath heading to the peak. Thereafter you can go further up to see the guild house of the 1st HK Governor of the colony one hundred years ago. This is the route I took.
