Twelve Flavors (Kennedy Town) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

The fish in sour and spicy soup with flavors of preserved vegetables is very outstanding, almost 10 out of 10, especially with the great bargain of only $218 or 248 for such a generous portion which could be shared among 4 people. Definitely add the special kind of thick and chewy vermicelli to this dish, you'll like it! The 麻香鍋 was nicely done as well. Chicken cartilage is particularly good. The spices made the pot very tasty, good to go with rice too. The dessert 紅糖糍粑 is so yummy, crunchy outside, soft and chewy inside, it's glutinous. We liked it a lot! A very nice resto specialized in spicy dish and fish in sour and spicy soup, resembling the hottest restaurants in China. Stood out well from the street with lots of red lanterns hung up outside the shop, interiors made u feel like going back...

I was really looking forward to trying the spicy food at Twelve Flavour Shop, but it turned into a regrettable experience. While the dishes were beautifully presented and promised bold flavors, the spice level was absolutely overwhelming. I love a good kick of heat, but this was on another level.

After a few bites, I could feel the heat intensifying, and I thought I could handle it. However, it quickly became too much. By the end of my meal, I found myself making six trips to the restroom, which completely ruined the enjoyment of the meal. It felt like the spice was designed to torment rather than delight.

I appreciate a good challenge when it comes to spicy food, but this was just excessive. I left feeling more discomfort than satisfaction. I won’t be rushing back...

The table we sat down was set up so I didn't realize it wasn't wipe down properly and I got grease all over my palm as I didn't see it or expect the table was not clean before they put new setting on. Also don't understand why air-con on with doors wide open in the winter time, so needless to say you eat with your jacket zip up and your food get cold really quick. The steamed rice was not cold to begin with. Pickled fish is ok but definitely better down the road in Master 13. The stir fry pork belly have small bone in it and doesn't taste good. There is not much of services beside deliver your order and take away your plate once you finish eating so they can have a quicker turnover. Can't see why we will...
