The Coffee Academïcs (Pok Fu Lam) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

In one word, coffee quality here has deteriorated after this semester.

I regularly come to this HKU branch (3~4 times a week) over the past two years and enjoyed the coffee. However, I noticed a significant increase of price together with"downgrade"of coffee beans (Brazil and Peru blend instead of TCA blend which costs an extra $5). I understand that life is hard during the pandemic, but I cannot withstand the drop of quality of your coffee. For flat white with TCA blend, it used to be $29 and now costs $38. Unbelievable!

I ordered a flat white (own cup) today and noticed that the Barista forgot to make coffee directly into my cup but instead poured the coffee from the paper cup to my cup (the barista even poured a little more milk after the transfer trying to pretend that the latte art was directly done in my cup). The flat white was very hot and bland (tasted like it only contained one shot). My incentive of bringing own cup (environmentally friendly) turns out to be useless and I received a far worse cup of flat white which costs $9 more than before.

I thought you were one of the specialty coffee shops that won't easily lower your standard of coffee but...

Had the espresso. All I can say is that it is markedly better than the alternative (Starbucks). I would love to see a single origin espresso offered though! Also would be nice if you opened a bit earlier...8 is late!

Today is the second time I have been here at 8 and it has been closed. Very unprofessional... minus 2 stars...will plan to get my morning coffee elsewhere..at least Starbucks opens on time…

Cannot agree more with the previous review that the coffee quality has gone downhill not to mention the poor hygiene (e.g. staff handling cash, clearing rubbish bins and making coffee with the same pair of hands (unwashed), talking with a mask at his chin not covering his mouth and nose while making a coffee). They charge you more saying that they have "upgraded" their beans (!!) but the coffee tastes ten times worse than before. Please do not come to...
