For those seeking fun things to do with young children in the Sha Tin area, there is a enjoyable (free to visit) Snoopy World Theme Park at the New Town Plaza Shopping Mall. It is a small park, good for 30-45 minutes of time for the little ones.

Here you will find the expected Peanut's characters and plenty of light outside fun for the young ones. There is a traditional playground area and a themed school bus that kids can enter. However, the most interesting attraction here is the cute little boating canal, where children and parents can take a short theme-park style boat ride.

All attractions are free including the boat ride (if staff are on hand). The canal boat ride holds two people and moves slowly along a path for around 4-5 minutes. The water is very shallow and log-shaped boats move very slowly to ensure complete safety.

Tip: Because this is a free attraction, Snoopy World is very crowded on weekends so expect a rather long wait for the canal boat ride if this is what you are interested in. Ideally, you should visit midweek, when the park is much less crowded and where queues for the boat ride are shorter.
