For those seeking fun things to do with young children in the Sha Tin area, there is a enjoyable (free to visit) Snoopy World Theme Park at the New Town Plaza Shopping Mall. It is a small park, good for 30-45 minutes of time for the little ones.
Here you will find the expected Peanut's characters and plenty of light outside fun for the young ones. There is a traditional playground area and a themed school bus that kids can enter. However, the most interesting attraction here is the cute little boating canal, where children and parents can take a short theme-park style boat ride.
All attractions are free including the boat ride (if staff are on hand). The canal boat ride holds two people and moves slowly along a path for around 4-5 minutes. The water is very shallow and log-shaped boats move very slowly to ensure complete safety.
Tip: Because this is a free attraction, Snoopy World is very crowded on weekends so expect a rather long wait for the canal boat ride if this is what you are interested in. Ideally, you should visit midweek, when the park is much less crowded and where queues for the boat ride...
Read moreEven though Snoopy's World is a free admission amusement area, I still don't believe that it is a decent amusement area to be bringing your kids too.
I myself have been to Snoopy's World many times before and I have never once genuinely enjoyed myself during my time there. The reason why I have never once enjoyed myself, is because of the lack of attractions at this so called amusement park.
First of all, there's a playground for kids which is pretty cool to see. There is also a replica model of a school bus from Snoopy's World, which is a photo area for people to take nice photos at. Aside from that, there's honestly nothing for people to do at this amusement park.
There's also a boat ride, which lasts for only a few minutes before you have to get off. All in all, I wouldn't recommend anyone to come to this amusement park, it literally has nothing for people to do.
You'd think that Snoopy's World would be like Hong Kong DisneyLand or Ocean Park, but no. There are no gift-shops, there are no roller-coasters, there are no exhibits for people to look at. This might just be the worst amusement park...
Read moreI'm no fan of Snoopy as I didn't grow up with the Charlie Brown cartoons or comics but I have to say I really enjoyed my time here. Admission is free and there's plenty of things for kids to do. The canoe ride can be a long wait but kids still love it. There's a snoopy bus (non operational) kids can jump into for fun, a large play ground area and lots of snoopy artefacts you can take pictures with. I thought the entry into snoopy world was an amazing contrast of Hong Kong and play grounds which is a big part of high rise communities. I think for a free a playground, it's amazing how this all is maintained and serviced. The place even has staff who operate the canoe ride. Other little details for the place are public toilets, water bottle filter machine to fill up your bottle, a plastic bottle recycling machine, solar powered mosquito lamp and even...
