We decided to visit this fishing village on our way to Tian Tan Buddha. We took the local bus down to the village and it took us about 20'. The bus driver's English was not very good and some passengers who needed help, seemed dissapointed. The village was nothing special. As soon as we got off the bus we were told that the next "boat" was scheduled to leave within the next few minutes and and if we wanted to get on the "tour" we should get tickets asap. The "tour" took us upstream for about 300-400 meters and then back down and out to the sea ... where the boat sailed leisurely for about 15-20 mins before we returned back from where we left. Actually, it felt like a scam, but we got a chance to get a good view of all those homes...
Read moreThis is a small exhibition centre located along Tai O Wing On Street in the heart of Tai O Village. The showroom is open from 12:30-5pm daily (closed on Mondays). Entry is free to all visitors.
What you will find is a single room with displays showing items from the village's past including antique lanterns, fishing and farming equipment and other items of intrigue. Items on display were donated by local villagers. Signs and information are in Chinese but many of the item labels are in English to help you understand what you are looking at.
