It was an honour and a pleasure to join the Tai O food tour held by Tai O Heritage hotel because we got to try different joints in the lanes of Tai O.

Tai O is a lovely town on water which is themed as a Chinese Venetian with stilt houses on water.

They are also famous for fermented prawn paste.

I go to Tai O frequently because there are so many joints to eat with a good variety of snacks but I have never had a meal in these restaurants because I am usually full by then. Tai O Crossing Boat Restaurant is a restaurant that I have bookmarked to go for the steamed rice with dried seafood. The Steam rice with dried seafood was definitely worth coming for. I call this the Chinese paella which is sooooooooo yummy because the rice has absorbed all the flavours from the dried seafood especially the dried squid!~

This rice is damn delicious so leave some room for it which is hard because there are so many other...

Chanced upon this place as it was behind a nice mural in Tai O. We ordered some roast goose, the 4 treasures rice and a couple of other dishes like kailan and fried fish to share. My favorites were the goose, kailan and fried fish, the 4 treasures rice wasn't that nice to me as I'm not a fan of salted fish, or it just doesn't go well with steamed rice.

Service was quite good by HK standards. Rather polite staff, tea top up upon request and generally hospitable service staff.

We were seated outside with lights shining in our faces because crowded, but we didn't mind too much. Weather was also not that hot it being winter so it was enjoyable with the wind.

Price was on the high side, but worth the...

The snobbish waiter hardsell the expensive food to foreign tourists and local tourists. I had a experience here, I saw the foreigners had only ordered the fried rice and drink(two persons sit down),the old waiter ,who wears with glasses, held up two of his fingers and did not satisfy the tourist’s order, speak loudly, “only two things......sssssss.Afterwards, when tourist would like to ask for the position of toilet ,he misunderstood or laughed at him, do you want to order more things.....ssss. Poor food ,poor service, I promise myself never go there . The money is not important, I am so disappointed how this fk restaurant behalf of the hk food for tourists in...

No casualties , this place is a bestseller and once you eat here, it would only make sense. None pretentious atmosphere just spices up the experience to give it more authentic flare. Anything from the menu here makes this restaurant enjoyable share-house full with warm memories for time spent in joy. Try the fishball soup and the noodles and eat like a local. Honestly, I would have never visited this place if it was not for my father in law who knows the area well enough. So glad to have him to be my personal tour-guide ... Still wonder if you should visit, well you can try me @travelogion

Overpriced tourist trap. Squid was tough as boots, not chewable and overcooked, and waiter service hiding nowhere to be seen, eventually did not even offer to replace or refund, only cut up into smaller pieces. Additional 10% service charge but did not see it mentioned in the menu, and what service - paid for hiding? Total for 4 dishes shown (mostly vegetables) was expensive $530 HKD. Poor food quality. There are much better and busier places within walking distance of the fishing village with better food and service.

Popular restaurant. The staff are hard working and welcoming. The main dining area is on one side of the street and the kitchen in on the other side. Has a ok toilet. Full menu. Separate dishes. Priced around HKD100 to HKD200 for each dish. We ordered the signature steamed rice which is topped with shrimp paste and dried seafood. It's a little over priced at HKD188. We also ordered two other dishes, a sweet and sour rib, and also a vegetable. The food was ok. We spent HKD451 for the 2 of us
